Anyway got a few bits for the clio

First is a ph1 clio indicator stalk to use the horn switch

2DDE109E-9096-4AF3-9E54-D3CE78005AFE_zpswxxox0j2.jpg

Is this a straight swop and will the horn work straight off from plugging it in lol

and thought I'd try these arms

Anyone got any experience with them?

Ive found the 2 bolts that go through the subframe are slightly too big so will need to drill or file the bolt holes in the subframe to take the new bolt.

This bolt

Where did you get your steering wheel and shifter from?cheers

sorry for long reply lol steering wheel was from ktec and the shift from pure Motorsport. Both quality items. The shift is amazing when moving at speed.

Amazing progress you look like a expert mechanic! Im subbed

Haha thanks bud, not that good haha.

Need to spend more time on it. Finially on the road but makes awful noises, think wheel bearings are shot front and rear, BUT I'm picking up some bucket seats tomoz night :)

frames, side mounts and harness on order too.

With no news on me K1, I had to crack in with the clio so that's now on the road and is pretty awesome to drive really happy so far bar the rear wheel bearings are shot really bad now.

Lobbed some water over it as it was covered in garage dust

Set the ride height on the coilovers, which are mega hard ride :)

Also brought some Carbon/Kevlar Corbeau Pro-Series System3Spec :D

Just like the Sprints I had in the Ibiza but with taller leg support so you don't roll about at all which is good :)

Utter b*****ds, sorry buddy, hope they get them :(

You're not having much luck mate.

Cup looks great! Some nice parts being chucked on!

Bloody hell mate, sorry to hear this. Scum bags

Thanks lads, now have the car back luckily in one piece but 100%

Anyway been working on the clio as it had mot today

So it's had new disc/bearings, pads and nearside rear caliper, brake fluid flush with some new ATE Racing Blue fluid.

I ripped a lot out of it aswell, air bags, loom and all the plastic and most the carpet.

C3498425-9481-424B-A823-BDAB96500471_zpsfxi607ww.jpg

So all the work and it past no probs. Had it weighed on the brake tester and it came in at 1072KG with the mot tester (roughly weighing 100KG) and 3/4 tank of fuel, so it fairly light but not light enough so I've order lexan windows and carbon fibre door cards :)

Should save a bit more.

Glad to hear you've got it back.

Cheers mate. Sorry didn't see your other reply, no track time booked yet, on the look out for time at trax's. i was hoping to attend an autotesting event at rockingham Sunday just gone but car wasn't ready in time :(

Nice build, similar to what I'm up to but no time to write up the build yet. Totally jealous of the speed your able to work at and get all this done it's ridiculously quick - well done on that!

BTW, what seat side mounts did you use?

It's fine pal, good thread and a nice car, looking forward to more updates.

More updates defo. Taking the car out Saturday night to a meet a rockingham race way. You got a thread mate?

Its an OMP brace and think there golds?! They were around 550/600 quid iirc.

haha thanks mucka. I find peace in the garage after annoying day, been starting work about 10pm other wise there'd be more pics lol.

Cool what sorta spec you aiming for? What's your 172? Cup?

there salbelt side mounts I'm using now.

Yeah, link's under my avatar. Spending on the house of late has kept my budget to a shoe string though. Coming up are Brembo's, replacing some other consumables, and then some track days for me. Thankfully I got my power fix out of the Focus ST I had previously. It was too quick for the chassis and brakes though by the end (for track at least) so at least it'll make me do it the right way round with the 172.

Nice seeing what's worked for you and others ready for when my usual spending commences.

They look like GHA's, dont have separate rebound adjustment on them.

i fitted the same and it's a hard suspension setup, thankfully like you mine is track car only

Sorry late reply. Certainly relate to finding peace in the man cave lol! I'm pulling some seriously late nights myself at the mo in order to get the car in a reasonable state prior to my first track day late August at Bedford. My spec (a 172 Cup) is very close to yours except I want to also stay on std suspension + cooksport springs, also I can't add solid top mounts nor brace between them. Thanks for the info on the side mounts.

Hi all. I'm new to the French car scene. I stumbled a cross this 172 cup as my previous track car was set on fire on my drive :(

Here it is

So plan is to build it for track/weekend blast and a trip or 2 to the NurburgRing.

I'm coming from a vag back so new to the renault way and N/A engine.

Few pics of my old track toy

quick spec - forged engine 300bhp 310ft, AP racing brakes, B16s, custom wide track, custom manual steering conversion, carbon bonnet, LSD fully stripped.

Plan is to build the clio to better spec, not to worried about the power difference as I love how the clios engine goes. I don't miss the turbo feeling driving the clio as I have this for a daily :)

Had a look at yours. Looks tidy. I really want brembos aswell. Like me with my leon as well, power and boost addiction is cured by it lol. Still toying with the idea of making the leon a 400bhp daily weapon aswell tho haha :)

They look like GHA's, dont have separate rebound adjustment on them.

i fitted the same and it's a hard suspension setup, thankfully like you mine is track car only

think your right mucka. There good quality tho and yeah there mega hard, I had them 3 clicks off the hardest setting and the arb on the stiffest setting to drive 40 miles down the motorway and it killed my ribs lol. Should be good in trax tho :)

oh i see, I tried entering my Ibiza into hill climb, but your restricted with boosted engines for the first year :( has to be under 1400cc so didn't bother lol. I'm gunna enter my clio into autotest and autosolo :)

Fitted my second seat tonight but just realised the bloody omp frames are on the piss. They make the seat lean into the middle if the car :(

anyone else suffer with this? I didn't think I have to leave them stupid little plastic tabs on that the oem seat sat on top of!

Yep, discover this too as I found some other members did too, there's not much choice out there for subframes without fabricating your own/use weld in bars if you want lower ones. For now I'm going to do this (see pic)...albeit with new side mounts as these aren't wide enough for my seat. I have plastic end stops to go in too to keep it tidy....

Just lift the inside bolts one slot that screw into the seats through the side mounts.

Straightens it out without fitting extra stuff

Not sure if I like that idea or not lol?! Don't wanna put any strain on the seat mounts/bolts.

Currently sat on holiday in Corfu :) given me plenty of time to think about the next step for the clio, which has seen me order a few items :)

before i I came out here I rushed it in for mot, which passed nicely but does have a slightly binding front caliper on the near side. I reckon the pads are stuck in the carrier. Whilst me mate had it on the brake tester I realised it had built in scales :) be rude not to note the weight if each axle :)

Front axle weighed 678KG and the rear 394KG so total of 1072KG with 3/4 tank of fuel and me mate reckons he weights about 15stone which I think is roughly 100KG, not to bad to start with but sat here in the sun, pool in front and bear in hand with many empties beside my lounger may have made me think it was a bit too heavy. I've ordered poly carb windows with sliders and carbon fibre door cars :) should bring the weight down a tad, but I've also order a roll cage, ITG maxogen intake (off a fellow forum member) and a AEE S70 camera (like gopro) to capture some action.
Thinking once I'm back ill take the dash out and rip a lot out like the heater.

On other news I'm not sure if I mentioned I've got my leon back :) needs a lot of tlc as it's been used as a get away car for alsorts of s**t and been taken abroad using the Dover crossing. That will get my full attention when I'm back and I'm going to try and get to worthersee 2015. Car will under go some mods before hand too, wheels, lows and more go :)

will update progress on both when I'm back.

Plans sound good mate

If I can suggest though, I'd keep the heater in place or get a proper heated windscreen (with the wire elements running through it)

Ball ache when it rains otherwise, steams up so you can't see anything!

I thought all bolt in cages came with platforms to spread the load. The floor is thin gauge steel so wont do much to hold it in place in a crash.

As far as I'm aware they all do aswell! As you can see the door bars are still duck taped to the diagonal bar so I'd guess they won't give much protection being there. When I get round to actually fitting the cage I might weld them in the right place and use the platform plates I got in nicely packaged box that's not pictured. :rasp:

What cage is that?

its one off eBay mucka. I just wanted a good base to start with so I can add to it where I wish. Thinking of X door bars and making the diagonal bar in a X aswell and adding a harness bar too.

So it gives me a good head start really :)

not hanging around with this build are you, wish i had the balls to put a cage in my daily 182 turbo

Haha bite the bullet and do it :) the cage isn't in at all yet it's just 'in the car' as I have nowhere really to store it lol. Pretty sturdy where it is tho.
