1.2 16v extreme "Black box" help (wont start)

Could someone please help me identify what the black metal box is just behind the 1.2 engine, mine is very loose, rattling like hell, is it the ecu / engine management?.

Also i have been having problems when starting, has happened three times now, i go to start the car as normal and it the engine turns over fine, but the car doesn't start, eventually will start after trying for several minutes.

could these two problems be related?

its going into dealer tomorrow but i would just like this clearing up,

you mean that little black metal square cover thing? about 8x8cm roughly? mine rattles like mad too my mate was trying to rip it off when he done my clutch because he couldnt actually see it doing anything but it was starting to get dark, it feels broken but that must be how they are!

Its the imobiliser backets its a common failing and will be fixed under warently.
I'd get it done quick as its annoying when it fails (the problems you are seeing now are related to this).

that is exactly what i mean... u dont wanna rip that out mate! lol

mine just seems to be a cover rather than a box, looks like a bracket thats not being used? lol
