get it checked somewhere else, well known scam by these cowboys that they say so much is wrong when it isn't
most people will just tell them to do the work and then they don't even replace half the things they have said need replacing but will charge for doing so
find a local paint/bodyshop supplier to mix it for you, not halfords! paint needs to be mixed perfectly, quantities of each colour needs to be spot on to end up with the correct colour, halfords monkies won't give a s**t if they are abit out on each colour which will give the final result a bad...
1500 is too fine, 1000 will not leave scratches/marks
and when clearcoating do not leave the last coat of colour to completely dry, you want to leave it for 15-20 mins and then do first coat of clear coat, if you let the last colour coat dry completely then you can have adhesion problems with...
don't use 1500 before paint, it can be too fine and can affect adhesion and may end up with the paint lifting in the future, 1000 is the finest you should go before basecoat
if you are just going over them, a quick coat of satin/matt black is fine with just degreasing, basically back to blacking them
if they are being colour coded they need completely detexturing
don't bother, once you have spent the money on the parts and fitting and informed the insurance you might aswell of just gone and got a 182 to start with
depends what look you want, if you just want the trims black but still textured just degrease them and spray, if you want the texture removed and them all smooth then expect quite abit of prep work for them to be done properly
