The VW Audi Skoda Seat Thread

The Headlight level sensor ball joints can cause random squeaks when they start to seize, iirc the Passat CC has one on all 4 suspension arms, just spray some wd40 in the joint and see if it stops.

A clutch is a piss easy job on the Mk7 anyway Also look into the clutch delay valve mod to, it's worth doing regardless.

The timing chain tensioners let go occasionally and water pumps leak fairly often, Also the stereo can just decide it dosen't want to work anymore and they're £500 -1000 to replace. Still bloody good cars though

Check you have battery voltage down the small wire to the alternator with the engine running, If you do the alternator's toast and needs replacing If no voltage you have a wiring issue on that wire.

Is it possible for a 172 to dyno 183hp and 245nm of torque with only a ported head and a decat?

245nm =180 ft lbs sounds a bit high I would guess 170hp and 150 ft lbs is probably more realistic

Anything that's over 40 years of age becomes mot exempt the following April, The official line is that classic cars are better maintained, in reality there was a massive MOT data transfer a few years back and they couldn't be arsed to do all the older stuff ( most of which only exists in...

71' C10's were rated at 240hp ( when new ) so should be fine It'll be near the limit for full throttle pulls for prolonged periods but I don't think it'll be an issue as thats probably not what's it's going to be used for, the fuel tank is behind the bench seat back and pretty much at the same...

They claim tacho exemption so only allowed to work within 50km of their base, so could basically move it 100km max if they collected 50km south and travelled 50km north of base Edit: it's 100km of base, not done that stuff for a few years and my memory is getting rid of all the useless info

172 Cup. Investment? Where are prices going?

Standard parts are getting more expensive too, I've just paid £100 for a used plastic lower timing belt cover, air boxes seem to have tripled in value too.

Clio 172 cup Mot failures on rear brakes and load compensator arm missing.

As a lot of longer serving members will remember back in the day there was an issue with Mot testers incorrectly failing 172 cup models on the load compensator linkage/rod missing, and also little or no effort on the rear brakes the issue was covered in Vosa's matter of testing magazine in April...
