    Potential 172 Purchase

You're buying from a dealer, so you could negotiate a warranty if you're worried about the history. Like the others, though, I'd probably just look for another one that has the history. You should find plenty within 50 miles of your house, which ought to be 1 hour's drive max. You could also...

    Lens

If you want to travel light, some of the 18-200mm lenses are pretty good (obviously not going to have the same sharpness and speed as a decent prime). There's nothing wrong with a 2nd hand lens if you buy carefully. But sub-£200 you'll struggle to get really great quality unless you ditch...

Sorry if that was too many at once, I won't do it again!

The "Ive taken a pic and I kinda like it" thread

I'll introduce myself to this thread with a couple of recent favourites. I use 35mm in a selection of 60s/70s Pentax Spotmatics, so sometimes it can be a while between new pictures depending on when I can get to the lab for processing.

    Nikon '1'

I take it you have large pockets. I appreciate that they're smaller than SLRs, but if you start taking accessories, different lenses etc, you're not gaining a huge amount in portability. I suppose if you don't ever want the size of an SLR, they might be the thing for you.

    November Photography Competition

Yes, thanks for that. This is why I asked in the first place (I had no idea it was a photographic style/genre)... to me, negative space would mean the opposite of space, something like this: Whereas what you're after for the competition is probably something more like this where there is, in...

    Isn't that just space?

    November Photography Competition

Ah, so you didn't know either. It seems, from what I can establish, that the word negative is largely redundant in the title of the concept. Essentially it is a technique in which one leaves a lot of the frame without an obvious subject. The subject itself is often in an unexpected location...

    Nikon '1'

I don't really see the point of these things. I think you get a proper SLR and something like a Canon S95 that is properly portable (fits in a trouser pocket), but allows you full manual control and RAW.

I'm not sure what negative space is. Is it completely open to interpretation, or does it imply something specific?

Who has an Exclusive and what number is yours?

I've just bought 61 and added it to the list. 58k, 2 previous owners. Does anyone have a pic of their interior - particularly the dashboard area? My floor mats are missing and I don't have a CD changer (wonder if it's had a different stereo in the past) - I'd like to see what the original...

    taxing a car after SORN?

As usual, the car needs to be insured and MoTed. I'd buy it online unless you need to pay cash. Then you just need the number from your V5C.

    The PH1 172 Appreciation Thread.

Here's my Exclusive for you. Under 58k, two previous owners, full service history. Generally outstanding condition. I'll post some better pics when I have a chance to take them - at the moment I'm just excited to have the car.

Hi from 172 Exclusive new owner in Brum

Here's the full-size pic. Just shy of 58k on the clock, two previous owners, full service history. It's lovely. There are a few discrepancies between the spec detailed in the Exclusive brochure and the finished article, I expect the accountants took a look at the equipment and decided a bit...

Hi from 172 Exclusive new owner in Brum

Hi, my name's Ed and I've just bought a 2001 172 Exclusive (no. 61). I was looking for something fun to use as my normal car; after looking at a few tired Civic Type Rs at twice the price, I found my Clio locally and went for it. The car's in great condition, 2 owners before me and just under...
