Quickest is to swap the flywheel and heads over and use the clio management.
Alternative is to use the full megane engine with standalone engine management which will cost around £800 + mapping.
The megane engine uses a larger flywheel and a coilpack instead of a dizzy drive.

Exactly, the car is too low and the CV joint is working overtime with the ridiculous angles. Get the car so the wishbones and driveshafts are horizontal and they'll last a lot longer

Me, 2live and plenty of others over on the mk1 forums have, the suspension is the main difference between the two cars, I can't speak for the trophy but I'd imagine the sachs dampers are the main culprit again.

A trophy has completely different suspension to the normal cars, that's why it handles better.
A Williams has different suspension to a valver, that's why it handles better.
Putting Williams wheels on my 16v never saw any improvement in handling, it was nowhere near the handling of a williams...
