Bugger. went to fit the cams on Friday and noticed for the first time that two lobes have gone to points :( So I need two new cams as well pooo. Sending them off to CatCams today in Belgium. My lifters are also scored so I will put a new set of those in while I'm at it.
As far as engine blow...
So some more pictures for you.
A nice shot of the mess you make when you overheat an engine! Dont do it.
The piston had hit the head as you can see
And knackered the crank too
And then bust the piston
And the rod for good measure
My new engine block BWA £195 quid...
The big build ground to a snotty halt as my rods didn't fit my wrist pins Arrhhhh.
Seems they were not ground quite enough. Done now! Chris and I will finish the engine off on Friday this week.
So I have a new head with new seat cuts and my race valves and double springs in it
A new block nicely honed
A new crank nicely polished
New Woosner rings
New Arrow rods
ACL race bearings
Pistons all cleaned up and shiney
All my ceramic coating stuff back
Leccy water pump
BIG build this weekend.
I was a moron for selling this car. Not one of my finer moments and ive had zero luck since she went with the new Audi. Nice to see it still living though and the improvements made to it, well done buddy.
Hmm makes me want to do one of my all time favorite cars and must do builds

Id gone from 41st to 19th by the pit and was really enjoying myself and just sort of thought if I ignore it it will cool down ROFL. 7th Sept Tony. Be great to see you. making loads of improvments with this rebuild so should be much better.

So A brief race report. LOL
Saturday the car presented itself with a range of electrical faults that kept changing every 30 mins. Much consternation ensued and also much changing of everything we could think of and then changing it again. I missed scrutineering and then qualifying and...
Hi Guys
Am I right on these rings gaps for my woosner pistons?
Bore 82.5mm
Top ring = .006" x bore at 82.5mm = 0.495" thou
Second ring = .006" x bore at 82.5mm = 0.495" thou
Oil ring = .015" x bore at 82.5mm = 1.2375" thou
is that correct or should that be mm and not thou?
taken from this...

Hall switch was round the wrong way oddly. Few small niggles on the loom I.E you cant turn the car off LOL and the kill switch dont work. Nothing that can't be sorted. I am told the engine sounds very sweet. Being mapped now.

It's a wifi 4 button switch panel, Mine is the 4 not the 4s with the little lap timer on it.
We bought it from Belgium buddy. Did a lot of research on it before we drove over there to look at it. It's an endurance spec one.
I am out at BH on July 27th and 28th on the GP circuit
Thanks mate. We are out testing the Megane Trophy in August now we have the dumps churns to fill it with fuel :) I shall post pics of that in here also as it's way more Renault than my Audi LOL.
I have one race left in track day trophy which is 175 bhp/ton at wheels including driver. Then I move into team trophy which is 200 bhp/ton at wheels. So if the car weighs with me in it around 1.3 ish then I need about 240 at the wheels max or i'm into lead territory.
I didn't want to mess with...

Ok So Update
Chrispy and I had a MAMMOTH weekend on the car starting on Friday night. We finished at 1.45am with the shims ready to got for grinding at 7am in the morning to Miks place RP engineering (my saviour for all things made and grinded)
Shims came back at lunch time and then I spent 4...
It is quite unbelievable isnt it. Literally everything on this car was either bodged, broken, worn out, wrong bolts holding it on or just plain damn awfull engineering.
I have also learnt all about valve seat cutting and what the optimum width is for race seats and how you arrive at the...
I went bugger it and took the head off and stripped it. Hate doing a job twice, glad I did. The c**t I gave the had too had cut all the seats different widths t**t and had not bothered to do the exhaust ones. What a tired old story eh. Seems like every fucker in this country is a c**t. :banghead:
