So to bring this to an end the M3 is dead :(
Spun a rod bearing at 128k. Will be having a baby next week so no time to sort it. I did whip the sump off to have a look but the crank was too far gone and would need a regrind.
Sold on eBay for spares or repairs, only lost about 2K on the purchase...
I don't know what equipment halfords use but some test for leaks with a vacuum not under pressure. This can suck leaking seals together so they pass the leak test. As soon as there is pressure in the system is leaks.
I like this (I made by own very similar). Regarding the buttons be aware that you will need resistors if you use them for cruise to simulate the oem buttons.
It moves the lateral load transfer distribution towards the rear of the car thus decreasing mechanical grip at that end of the car and increasing it at the other.
I.e. it decreases understeer/helps turn in.
Similar to running a stiffer rear anti roll bar.
Update time.
Rear caliper rebuild:
Exhaust fabrication using E90 M3 manifold:
Finished:
Exhaust manifold installed:
Shifter linage finished:
Next step is rear bodywork so the oil cooler/tank and exhaust can be finalised.
More updates.
A start has been made on the gear shifter which is a genuine shifter and a linkage rod from some random old f1 car I'd never heard of!
Loom started with x2 Megane 1.6 injector looms.
Fuel system all plumbed in.
Cam driven alternator
Just a little update:
The suspension is coming along, refurbed wishbones with new bushes and ball joints.
Eliseparts rear uprights
The engine and gearbox are in the for final time (hopefully!)
You can just see the camshaft driven alternator on the left which took some time to machine the...
I'd say it starts the change as soon as the paddle is released. The shift speed depends on the gearbox setting and how much throttle you have on.
I paid someone on cutters to do my csl softwsre as its a bit more involved than normal coding.
I'm meh on the plate, it came with it and I didn't pay any extra for it.
I've played with a few bits software wise. Got the CSL smg software which is nice. I've changed the DME to adjust the throttle map, rev limits, rev limit lights and removed the dyno restrictions and speed limiter.
I've...
I thought the forum was lacking E46 M3 threads
I spent a long time looking for a high miles lateish car with good history. The thinking was the money saved on buying the car can go towards any subframe/vanos/smg issues. Most problems don't seem to be mileage related anyway.
I was set...
Theres a decent guide on here. I had most trouble with the top tensioner bolt (torx) purely because I couldn't fit my socket/ratchet in the gap, a torx spanner would make it a piece of piss.
The plan was to build something with at least 500bhp per tonne. I thought the tried and tested route of supercharged Honda would be best but Pat likes a challenge. I had no idea about the engine till I looked in his garage!
So the engine came from a Euroboss car (open single seater formula...
Aeromotive seems a bit over the top and why would you need 2 44s? Thinking of weight here, one seems enough. And what pressure regulator?
He's been slated by Ferrari AND Lotus people!
I'll get something together.
I'm helping a mate put a Ferrari 355 engine in an S1 Elise with Exige bits.
Need a fuel pump recommendation. The fuel rail doesn't have return like a phase 2, what do the Clio big turbo builds use? Needs to flow enough fuel for around 400bhp.
Already done that and theres nothing out of any of them. I've changed the loom so the wiring should be fine and I've tried a different ECU. Is there anything that can be telling the ECU not to open the injectors?
The 1.2 run around has died. Parked up nothing unusual then the next day refuses to start.
Has spark and fuel to the rail. Fires on easy start which points to injectors. Tried a spare ecu (cheers Mick) with no change so I changed the top engine loom but it's still not going.
Unsure where to...
I'd carry on drilling out the spacer bolts. Once that's done the sheared bolt will wind out the spacer and there will be plenty enough thread on the spacer bolts to get mole grips on.
Just ds2500s if you can even call that a mod!
Still has air con and cruise for the journey over there.
