Not in the least bit surprised! Has the hangover set in yet?? Youll be in bed for the rest of the week mate!!
Drowning your sorrows Im gathering? Being a blue-nose Ill refrain from comment... :devilish:
If youre spending that kinda money on insurance its really not worth doing it in your dads name, especially as it sounds as though youre not getting the benefit of a full NCD in his name which has been mirrored from his own policy. Youd be much better to build up some NCD in your own name...
I cant believe they voided your policy over alloys!!! For a start you can easily justify not advising the insurer that the car had been modified when the car came with alloys and you just chose a slightly different design and size, which were probably of less replacement value than Renaults own...
I think that would be true. Its probably a good thing that you didnt sign and return the proposal form as well, as youve not signed any declaration that UKI could produce to the Ombudsman/in court to say the car hasnt been modified! You could also claim for loss of use, or some kind of...
Connor, with your free insurance, when you filled out the original proposal what was that like? Cos I seem to remember for Renault free insurance when I first bought my car back in 2001, they didnt ask for a full proposal to be filled in and signed, just a list of driver names!
Also, there was...
Well, in a hypothetical situation, and this isnt supposed to represent the views of anyone other than myself personally, and isnt purporting to be a professional opinion in any regard... if Joe Bloggs were to insure his car TPF&T and didnt declare modifications to said car, and then there was an...
Doesnt matter. The certificate of insurance is a guarantee that they will indemnify you in respect of any third party liability which arises, unconditionally, under the terms of the Road Traffic Act. Its a legal requirement. I know this becuase Ive spent the last two days in Underwriting...
You dont need to worry about liability to the other party, even if you hit a Ferrari your insurance company are obliged to deal with the claim as the certificate indicates that for the purposes of the Road Traffic Act that your insurance company are the insurer. Its only cover for your own car...
I get a very poor mileage out of my 1.2 16v, a full tank of petrol (ie. filled up after 45 miles of driving with the warning light on!!!) gets me 180 miles. Must be about 20mpg tops. Admittedly I do change gear at 5.5K RPM most of th etime when Im driving!!!
Ive got a Scorpon Boxer cat-back GrpA spec system. And although it sounds mint, I suspect it has lost me power rather than gained anything, but hey, its not exactly a racing car in the first place (unlike like these 172 Racers mentioned above!). Im happy with good looks and sound, and enough...
Dont go near 70mm bore piping on a 1.2 16v as youll lose a sh*tload of BHP! Even my 2.5" (60mm) Scorpion system gives much less torque, particularly low-end, and slows the car down across most of the rev range. 70mm with decat would be a daft proposition for a 1.2. Although Id dispute that it...
Intellistart option negates your Thatcham rating altogether! For the purposes of your insurance company, your car now has no security devices fitted. You have to inform them that youve fitted Intellistart or if your cars pinched you wont get a penny back!
Depends on the bolts you have. I have tuner-style bolts with my wheels and the standard bolts (not lengthened ones) will accomodate my 10mm spacers with ease. A rule of thumb is that you must be able to get at least 7 full turns of the thread to make sure the bolts are secure.
I have a Scorpion Boxer cat-back exhaust on my 1.2 16v and it started off quite quiet but its got loude, but its actually the deepest exhaust Ive ever heard! Closest thing is a TVR. ITs a really deep hum/grumble throughout the rev range. It pops on the over-run and definitely gives more...
I reckon Id pay £350 in total including fitting but for spraying alone £250-£300 would be fairer, based on what I know other people have paid for bodykit spraying.
Anyone have any experience of these? Any good? Ive been swithering between Comp VR and one of these for a while and have ended up going for the Kicker in a custom Kicker enclosure. Ordered today but will probably take about a week. I was wondering what kind of amp power would be required to get...
Ive seen the silver perforated screen idea in action on a new shape Punto and it looks amazing! The lights have been covered with a pin-stripe silver film, with really narrow stripes, so the lenses look solid silver from a distance of over about 6 feet away, but the light shines through...
I know of a guy with a lower Clio! His names Stu and hes got a gold Clio with smoothed bodywork running 130mm drop on 18"s!! He had to take his bodykit off cos it scraped on the ground and hes now got the standard front bumper completely smoothed and its sitting only about 2cm off the ground...
Id be very interested to know which company let him transfer moped NCD onto a car policy, as I work in the insurance industry and am familiar with all 34 of the insurance underwriters in the UK and am not aware of one which will accept bike policy NCD for a car policy!
Yes, but moped NCD is not transferable to a car policy. And with free insurance age is relevant, as this is the sole factor they use to determine how much NCD to give you at renewal since they backdate the number of years to when you were 17!
Nope, the standard bolts still give about 6 turns on the threads. If I was going any bigger than 10mm (eg. with wide arches, which Im consdering) I would definitely get longer bolts though.
It wont change anything, since they backdate the NCD to when you were 17 anyway. So when you come to renewal after your second year of free insurance, youll have one more year than you would have done the previous year at renewal anyway as youll be a year older!
I ordered wheels with ET38, and these rubbed on the inner arch liners with my 40mm drop when I had any passengers, so I had to remove the liners. Then it was ok, but the wheels looked far too far in under the large Clio arches. So I fitted 10mm spacers (making ET28) to all 4 wheels and now they...
