I have the main rear light on the passenger side out. I have swapped bulbs over to the other working side and both work so must be a problem with the light unit or electrics.
All cabling looks ok into the unit, and all other lights on that side work.
What else can I check?
Only notice this at slow speeds when moving in traffic over bumpy ground but the front end has quite a bad rattle which seems to be coming from the drivers side front suspension area . Top mounts are tight, jacked the drivers side up and the everything seems tight, the outer of the tyre seems to...
well greenlight don't insure my postcode, looks like elephant it is!
just had a quick look into the postcode ratings and although I live in an LS1 postcode with a secure underground garage seems the postcode has a lot to answer for, rated F...
Just tried Sky and they couldn't beat my elephant renewal, will give brentacre a ring and if no joy looks like i'll be giving my money to elephant again!
Just got a quote from Adrian Flux, i'm 30 this year, 3 years NCB, 0 points, never made a claim, clean license, member of CS and live in a good area, a 2002 172 valued at 3500, wait for it.... £1146.19, are they having a laugh?
best I can get is an elephant renewal for £470, this still seems...
another thing is that it only does it when the engine is warmed up;
if its idling and I dump the throttle to the floor quickly (this isn't something I do often, its just to test it) the the engine seems to splutter & hesitate for a second and its almost as if the revs drop slightly before they...
what is the standard thread for that bolt and what corresponding helicoil size would I need.
also would this cause an air leak like I think I have, or could that be something else?
not sure what you mean? the thread is/was in the rocker cover (if I remember rightly) so I didn't want to remove that, just repair it, I dont mind taking the plenum off, thats easy!
there is something that is a bit odd that I'm trying to get to the bottom of; the engine hesitates and splutters...
Are they easy to fit, or should I say are they easy to balls up more like.
Is it simply drill down into the hole to clean, re-tap the thread then turn in the helicoil to fit?
Also how do you know what size helicoil to fit?
had this for a while but not got round to sorting it yet.
When I rebuilt my engine a while ago I managed to strip the thread on the pic below
its the right one of two that holds the top of the inlet mani on to the rocker cover.
What's the best fix without dismantling everything? Helicoil...
Sorry to hijack thread but what exactly does a misfire feel like as mine does a weird thing just low revs when I floor it, sort of hesitates and splutters for a split second before picking up and going! is this the same?
Not really sure to be honest mate. They we're supposed to replace the whole thing but for all I knew they could've only done half a job or none of it at all!!
I was tempted by the cheap price but ended up worse off! Best thing I would say is get it done somewhere you know is reputable and check...
I had a clutch replaced on my old astra by mr clutch (think it was somewhere in manchester) and i've got to say, it was worse after they'd replaced it than before. I took it back a couple of times for them to adjust it but it always juddered when I pulled away in 1st!
Didn't have the car much...
us there a quick way to check timing is correct without removing cam pulley cover, engine mount, cam plugs, getting it to tdc and getting cams in line?
these (as provided by f0xy) for removing/refitting timing belt
http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showpost.php?p=5733951&postcount=34
there's a guide in the guides section if you become a paid member on doing cambelt yourself and also there's a workshop manual on the fastchips.nl site that should...
Mine snapped a while ago (before I had the car I think)
Its the one that is attached to the fueltank(i think). Is it replacable as my handbrake is really spongy and this need replacing.
How do you get it off and does anybody know if it is one of these on this pic?
if not does anybody now...
lost a partition on my server, I know it was nearly full and was copying something over to it and now can not read it!
Just wanted to ask if this is something that can be recovered by myself with the right software or should I leave it to someone who knows what they are doing?
any software...
its weird, i've driven it a bit this morning and sometimes it does it, sometimes it doesn't, when it doesn't it drives and pulls spot on! does that sound like timing or something else?
where would I check for air leak?
I was hoping it wasn't going to the be the timing!
Is it going to destroy anything if I drive it as not going to be able to sort it till next week now and have a long journey to make!
Got this rebuilt today after a few probs, put new oil in, car started bit was really spluttery low down and stalled, revs seemed all over the show!
Anything to check immediately? (in the morning!)
cheers guys, great idea with the screw, I was hoping not to have to take the cam cover off again as it takes ages to clean all that sealant off!!
Will see how it goes tomorrow
That sounds like a likely cause, I has the seals on the cams when I fitted the rocker cover (I did have the correct one on correct cam) and the inlet did get caught at an angle as I started tightening it until I realised! F00k!
Is it rocker cover off again or as the inlet seal has a larger...
