Hot to for Alternator Removal and Replacement? - Mk2 Ph2 1.6

Im TOTALLY stuck... . I got the alternator and a new belt. Now I can't figure out what I need to loosen to get it back on there. I found this diagram which seems to make sense for the way my belt should go. Uploaded with ImageShack.us The thing I can assume to be the tensioner is held on...

Hot to for Alternator Removal and Replacement? - Mk2 Ph2 1.6

I don't have a VIN number to hand, but its a MK2 PH2 1.6. Even if someone has a diagram of the way the belts go round the pulleys it would be a start. Then I just need to know how to get it to the right tension?

Hot to for Alternator Removal and Replacement? - Mk2 Ph2 1.6

Thanks chapster but I already have something sorted. Does anyone have access to a guide that shows how the belt should go and how to tighten it etc? This is the first time I've fitted one up.

Hot to for Alternator Removal and Replacement? - Mk2 Ph2 1.6

I ended up removing the front bumper to get the old one out. The pulley had come out and snapped a little bit on the edge. I'm wondering if it would be easier to replace the pulley than get a new alternator?

Hot to for Alternator Removal and Replacement? - Mk2 Ph2 1.6

So my alternator decided to blow itself to bits tonight. The mechanism has failed and the belt is already loose. After doing some reading I need to disconnect the battery, then remove the headlight and slam panel if I can. Will this give me enough room to unbolt it and remove it? I've not...

Irregular grinding feeling from the brake pedal?

I was thinking that after doing more reading. Just replaced the driveshaft yesterday so at least one side front is fine... I'll try cleaning both sensors too.

Irregular grinding feeling from the brake pedal?

This ones been baffling me for a while... My car came with pretty new discs and pads when I bought it, both of which are in good condition still. Occaisionally I get this odd braking feeling through the pedal while in general driving, a bit like the ABS is trying to kick in but really poorly...

HELP! No clutch after driveshaft change and gearbox oil

Where would I be able to find the cable if it's come off? The pedal does come back up somewhat, but pushing it down feels like theres nothing there, and I cant select any gears.

HELP! No clutch after driveshaft change and gearbox oil

Going to replace driveshaft, a couple of questions

Thanks for the advice chaps. I also understand I'll need an 8mm square socket and a copper washer? Or could I get away using a 3/8" drive or something similar?

Going to replace driveshaft, a couple of questions

I'm getting some serious knocking when on full lock turning right. From my understanding this is likely to be the outer CV joint. After doing some reading on here, I'm led to believe it's cheaper/easier to change the whole driveshaft. At a glance, this would cost £60 from someone like Euro...

Where are the steering rack mount bolts?

I'd like to make sure these are nice and tight after doing some reading that it might be why my steering is a bit 'loose' feeling. Where can I get access to these easiest from? Are they fairly obvious? Thanks

Quick question on Track Rod Ends (nut size)

Tackling track rod ends tomorrow and I'm wondering what size of spanner is needed for the locking nut usually? Reason I ask is I think I'll need to buy one first. Also, track rod ends seem to be coming in at £20 per side at motor factors, does this seem right?

Worrying knocking from front left of car when turning right and going uphill

Damn, driveshaft would be the trickiest to replace too... Found this video. The play in my driveshaft is similar to this. Is it normal to have this much? Or is this definitely something wrong? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxKFrJ3yk_k

Worrying knocking from front left of car when turning right and going uphill

On the flat its fine, its just when you're going right and uphill in a multistorey car park. The suspensions always felt a bit crap though going over bumps so thats why I got newer springs and shocks to replace knackered ones. Just been under the car and noticed a couple of things...

Cant get the in-car locking button to work - tried the usual 'hold' trick.

Not had a look yet. Was hoping to avoid that but its looking more likely that I'll need to get into it. Is it easiest to access by taking the headunit out?

Cant get the in-car locking button to work - tried the usual 'hold' trick.

On my Mk2 Ph2 the interior car door lock button doesnt seem to work. I read on here that if you hold the button for 10 seconds it should re-trigger itself, but I'm having no suck luck. Any suggestions?

Worrying knocking from front left of car when turning right and going uphill

I have a Mk2 Ph2 1.6 that I recently replaced the suspension on. I didn't notice anything under the car when I did it, but when going into multistorey car parks theres a worrying knocking coming from the front left. Any thoughts as to what I should be looking for before I have a look at the...

Can't seem to fix my sunroof leak - with pictures

Trying to fix a leaky sunroof. Before taking it all apart and putting it back together again with new silicone, I've sealed it from the outside where the plastic meets the metal roof, which as far as I can tell would do the same job? Looking at this picture, the water is getting in through the...
