I've had a slight crunch into 4th for about a year now, but this has gotten worse as it's starting to happen into 2nd and 3rd too.
You can hear the crunch in the below video, where the mic was in the engine bay (Yes drag racing doesn't help the box haha)
I'm guessing it's bad synchros among...
It's the box above the right two spark plug tubes. See the below picture of mine after I'd cleaned the oil away.
This is what the labyrinth looks like with the cover off.
The labyrinth gasket leaked on mine causing the spark plug tubes to fill with oil. This destroyed the HT leads casing a horrible misfire. CHeck that there isnt any oil seeping through the labyrinth box under the intake plenum.
Hey guys,
I have returned from university so haven't moved the 172 (Cup) since September. Because of this, I have bought new brembo discs and pads for the car.
Upon removing the OS front calliper, I realised it has completely seized up. The slider pins had to be pulled out using mole grips...
Something must be terribly wrong if you're getting that fuel economy! I get around 38-40 mpg on a normal day which includes a 100 mph+ blast on the straights (It's legal where I live ;D )
^^^ A silicone based grease would be a better option, copper grease will most likely chemically attack the O-ring and cause it to fail. It'll be best to check the diameter of the O-ring wire thickness too. Once you have your measurements you can find out what ISO number it is by going to page 11...
I had a similar problem, I replaced the coolant sensor and it kept happening. It was actually a duff thermostat, it was stuck open so the engine was too effective at cooling! A replacement thermostat is super cheap and is just literally next to the sensor (the triangle shaped bolt pattern just...
What do you mean by bracket racing?
Cars were put into different classes based on their times. I was in the 14.30 class, which means cars between 15.30 and 14.30 second runs are in that class. The classes on the day were 15.30, 14.30, 13.30..... all the way down to a 9.30 (only 1 car in that...
Hey guys!
Just took my clio to a drag event and managed to get top in the 14.30 class with a 14.32 @ 90 mph.
Modifications are:
Ktec intake
decat stainless exhaust
RS Tuner 98 RON map
Sorry for the shaky video, my little brother isn't the best at holding cameras :)
What times have you...
That'd be ace! That should work a treat. I can give you a copy of the pops and bangs map in return if you still have the tuner (And a decat, you NEED a decat)
I'll pm you my email address :)
Hi there,
I've had the 98 RON map on my car for a while, so I decided to try out the pops and bangs for a laugh seeing as it was the Isle of man TT and I had to compete with the loud bikes ;)
To do this, I had to update my ECU from version 7400_5E10 to 8200_7804. This means I can't revert back...
As most of you are probably aware, Kawasaki have released a 300hp, supercharged 998cc bike.
It took a 'parade' lap of the Isle of Man TT Circuit and deafened people as far as London.
Check this crazy footage out! :
Hi guys thanks for the replies!
I've gone ahead and bought the RamAir foam filter cleaner and oil as it looks like a relabelled Ktec kit (Probably from the same factory ha). It was the same price as the KTEC one but with FREE SHIPPING! <3 eBay!
Because I'm on the Isle of Man, KTEC want me to pay a whopping £22 post for their cleaning kit even though you can send it in a jiffy bag for £5.
I have loads of K&N filter cleaner and oil from a previous K&N filter, would it work on the KTEC foam?
Thanks
I put the RS Tuner 98 RON map onto the car and its SO much better before 5k, you actually feel a pull from 3500 now because the flat spot is gone. Cold starting it idles a bit higher and isn't as chuggy, plus the hot idle doesn't seem to be as rough =]
Had the same problem, got very bad for me! Mine was down to the two spark plug tubes in front of the oil breather getting full of watery oily s**t (breater gasket was leaking) meaning the spark was weak at low RPM, got new HT leads too as the old ones looked pretty burnt around the contacts...
