LY FORGED MEGLIO R27

so its been a long old while since i have been active on here! my last posts were about my old 182 turbo!
IMG_9177.JPG

in that time i have also had a megane sport dci 175 as my daily driver which was a very well specced car and was genrally a really nice car to drive! just a tad on the expensive side for a daily along with the 182!
IMG_9018.JPG

so that brings me onto the latest project which is my liquid yellow R27 f1 edition. no 174/500
I bought the car off a good friend and well known spanner man on here mr Alex White back in november last year. I had seen the car a few times at alexs house as he was working on it for a customer who then bought/ swapped cars for his old cup.
id always expressed my intrest in the car while I had only got my megane and then the chance to buy it come up!
So thats where it all began.
it did however have some issues in the way of lack of compression on one cylinder and a few other bits that would need attention, but none the less a deal was agreed and heres a bit opf whats gone on with the car over the last 11 months!
so within 48 hours of a deposit being left on the car we ripped the engine out and tore it open to see what issues were hidden within!
long story short the engine was going to need a rebuild and thats when i started throwing in some more bits to the mix.
its current spec is as follows
wossner forged pistons
PEC forged rods
supertec valves
catcam valve springs
meg 250 turbo
single mass flywheel
r26r clutch
pollybushed torque mount and dogbone
airtec custom intercooelr and custom pipework
full 3" scorpion 197 system
R26 box with LSD
remapped at engione dynamics, (currently sub 300hp due to a cracked turbo) watch this space....

IMG_1292.JPG

other specs of the car include
aero splitter
aero spoler
speedline turinis 18" with michelin PS4 tyres
billstein B14 coilovers (these will be coming off very soon for some more track focused coilovers)
CM composites sideskirt spats
megane R26 mud flaps
fresh OE discs front and rear, ferrodo ds 2500 pads ]RBF 660 fluid
batetry relocated to boot.

so this year i have done about 14k miles since the rebuild and the car has been absolutley amazing. sure its had some niggles that have needed addressing along the way but thats modified cars right :p
ive been to the nurburgring in it and it was absolutley spot on bar the standard meglio issue of overheating on track with sustained heavy use. so there will nbe another trip to airtec due soon for a custom rad to be made.
i mailny bought the car as i sold the 182 and just had the megane and i missed the fun factor of a turbo petrol but diddnt want the same rattly discomfort of the 182! so this was the best suited car for my needs!
i seriously would reccomend one of these to anyone. they are just such a good blend of fun/ refinement.
anyhow, enough waffle for now. heres a few more photos from the last year of ownership!
i shall try to maintain some updates as they occur!

one HUGE shoutout to alex for building this little monsyter for me!

a lot more has happend with the project this year but i shall not bore you all with the past, but as said, there are some changes coming and i shall try and keep it up to date!

if you made it this far, thanks for reading!

id Have liked to have got it out on track this year but sadly lack of funds and other issues with the car that need addressing before I’m confident the car won’t overheat etc!
I’m hoping to button it all up for the new year so all being well it’ll be on track for CSF!

Stunning car and with the meg engine it must absolutely fly. Love the Turinis on it too.

So I’ll throw an update in because why not...

I’m currently waiting on the cast side of a turbo to be machined for me (this should fix my lack of power issue!) hoorah!
Also sat in the parts bin waiting we have
- Powerflex wishbone bushes
- Powerfelx ARB bushes
- new rack insert
- new bottom ball joints
- new swivel bearings
- new ARB links
Annnd most importantly some brand spanking GAZ GOLDS ?

Which brings me onto the next point, as you all know, Alex white whom I bought the car off and who has always built and maintained all of my cars has just opened up his own shop AW Motorworks!
So along side helping him set up shop my car was in for a quick health check and also a thermostat change as mine had been playing up!

So if anyone is needing any work doing give my man a shout!
He’ll be doing all of the above changes when we get the turbo back!

Moarrr soon!

Thanks for all the positive feedback thus far! ??

Yeah Alex who was at Engine Dynamics?

car looks great. Theres a blue 197 with a megane engine/box on the 200 forum. Looks decent and bet it goes well.

Another mini/ pointless update.
I’ve had a gearknob adapter kicking about for ages, just hadn’t bought a knob to go with it.
Well I have and I’ve basiclly made a very cheap take on a CAE.
Not the prettiest, but it works and with the short shifter that’s already fitted it works nicely! (Thanks to Alex for fitting as if required cutting the original one up) and I don’t trust myself with that ?

Excuse the dirty interior. No time to clean it on these dark nights ?

One of my favourite parts on this and perhaps one of the least expensive are the mudflaps at the front.

Should have come with these straight from the factory. Just wish that a pair would fit the 182 as good at those!

Soooo....
Part 1 of 2 for a big update!
Long awaited has this been for me!
Yesterday I got the call that my brand new turbo housing was ready for collection
81BAE5C3-B94D-4ABE-868C-CA3F93904B53.jpeg

Now this part has taken literally months to acquire as it’s been out of my hands and relying on a machine shop to do some bits as it’s a modified housing due to not being able to buy them new from Renault anymore!
So though it wasn’t planned initially Alex had the day to offer to get it changed straight away!

So today myself and Alex have
-removed the subframe
-Swapped the turbo housings over
-Fitted my powerflex wishbone bushes
-New lower ball joints
-ARB bushes fitted
And had to have the car back working for me to drive home this evening ??

Thanks fo Alex of course all was done and I’m well chuffed!

There’s some more goodies to be fitted on Monday which I’m looking forward to as again it’ll be making a huge difference to the car and bringing it ever closer to the spec I want!

If any of you are looking for someone to work on your car give AW Motorworks a search on Facebook!

Until the next one!

Oh haii again!
Update part two!

So after Saturdays shenanigans with the turbo and bushes...
Monday then turned into:
- Swivel hub bearings
- steering rack insert
- track rod (only one side as the other was done a couple months ago)
- fitted the Golds! ?

Shame it all gets hidden!

Huge thanks to Mr Alex of AW Motorworks again for putting in many hours on my car this weekend!

It’s ever nearing the point I’ve wanted to get it to! And my god does it drive so much nicer now.
Map tweek and custom rad will be the main focus’s for the project next!

Soo I have the week off work this week and went to give mr Albert a hand up the unit!
While I was there I wanted to adjust the GAZ now they had settled in and I think the height is now just so! If I say so myself ??‍♂️

I’ve also had a sunstrip banner and some window stickers made for the business too!
Be sure to head over to the Facebook page and message him for any work you need doing!

More updates to come this week all being well! Watch this space....

Soo a little late due to forgetting to update since!
Car went into Engine Dynamics for another/ it’s final map tweek since having the cracked turbo housing sorted and it finally made the magic 300hp I set out for!
304hp/313ftlb!
Drives absolutely spot on now.
I also did something Chavy (shocking for me I know [emoji849][emoji23]) and had some over run mapped in. So over 4.5k rpm it now sounds like a machine gun [emoji23]
