I removed my Clio badge but the background is yellowish

Hey everyone! I just turned a member of this forum and I'd really much appreciate your help.
So I own a grey Clio mk2 from 2001 and decided to remove the "Clio" badge because I wanted the rear to look more solid. Once taken off, I realized it was an attachable badge and so I was left with 2 pins and also removed them. I now have 2 holes at the back of my car. I've seen a thread where someone linked where to buy those pins, but I already have an idea on what to do with those 2 holes.
Now my problem is: Since my car is 17 years old, once I removed the badge and even after cleaning it, there is this "aged background", in tones of yellow. It literally feels like the badge, but it's stuck to the paint and it isn't grey, like my car. I am now worried that I can't remove that ugly color and fear that my plans are about to be gone.
Is there a product or really anything that could solve this problem? I call it "sun mark" but It's probably wrong. It's not glue anymore though. I have removed all the glue from it and even polished a bit.
I currentely have no pictures of what it looks like but I'll upload them soon!

We’d to see some pics to advise properly mate. It could be tar, fallout, or could be masking lines from a previous (poor!) paint job. Just grab a quick phone pic and post it up and someone will be able to help. ?

Ideally it will need polishing, its a small area so can do this by hand - cheap and quick option is to use something we call 'T Cut' here in England. Any abrasive polish will do the job though.

Hey there! I’ve only had time to come here now, so here’s the current state of the back of my car. Also, the picture was taken during the night but i think it’s visible!
But right now I’m really thinking about buying the pins, spraying the badge with PlastiDip and putting it back.

Looks like glue residue to me.

Get some tar remover on it

Is it sticky to the touch?

As above, tar remover will get it off. Don’t scrub hard though as you’ll mar your paint.

Thank you so much! I will give it a go. So it’s most likely glue instead of a “sun mark”?

Yeah it certainly looks like adhesive.

You’ll know straight away when you run you finger over it, if you can feel resistance or anything mildly sticky, it’s glue.

Give it a good polish with something like AF tripple afterward and it should be grand.

Well I tried applying tar remover and then polishing it again but it just won't come off. I don't think it's glue anymore, but it's okay, I've ordered the pins and I'm going to place the badge again, but I'll paint it black.
