Seeing 1990's cars on the roads nowadays....

I just saw an N reg Nissan Micra on the motorway and couldnt believe how small and boxy it is - but i find it so much more interesting to look at than todays modern cars!

Also the old Volvo estates are tiny and boxy compared to modern ones - but i really like the look of them now!

Anyone else feel the same? Finding the older 90's cars much more interesting and even loving the look of some you never liked before?

Especially in window size....the older cars had larger,squarer windows which let so much more light in and visibility all around...must be a safety thing.

That newer BMW is well ugly compared to the older one. In fact most modern cars are ugly....those hybrid Nissan saloons are horrendous.

Visibility is definitely a problem with more modern cars, but it's a result of safety standards improving. Always amazes me how good the visibility is when I drive an older car.

I've always loved cars from the 90s to be honest. 80s/90s motors are what I grew up with. Guess that's why I own two though lol

Not 90s but I actually saw a MK1 Fiesta today. Don't remember the last time I saw one of those.

Until recently a guy at work had an escort cosworth that was dry use only and he used to bring it to work sometimes.
I swear when he parked it next to a 64 plate corsa they were the same size.

Probably were.

Current Fiesta is the same size as the original Focus, current Focus is almost the size of the original Mondeo.
Current Mondeo is larger than half the comedy "yank tanks" people love to mock so often.

Still nice to see the older cars about quite a few retros in daily use near me.

My r5gtt feels tiny compared to any modern ish small car - corsa/fiesta etc. Its still a nice drive though feels raw no driver aids or nowt. I should make the effort to get it out more than a couple of times a year really

Spookily enough I saw an immaculate white 205 Dimma whilst out this afternoon. Wouldn't have been my cup of tea before but looked fantastic amongst all the boring crap on the road.

I love these now. But back in the day you never took any notice of them hehe.

Must be a generation thing...i spent my childhood looking at mid 80s to 90s cars so when you see one now it brings all the memories back ha.

I agree, older cars have way more character than they do now. I would say my 2002 Octavia is a little too new for my liking. But then again I do also drive this (not quite 90's by a few months!) which satisfies the older car criteria:

Would like to see how it compares to a new 5 series in size and build quality, as there are things on this car you wouldn't see now - like a light on the under side of the bonnet and its 3 washer fluid bottles!
Me and my step dad constantly send each other eBay listings for "rubbish" cars which are so cool. He sent me a Metro GTi yesterday and the urge to just go and buy was strong as it was close to home. He has had so many nice retro cars over the years, but just at the wrong time as now they are worth a small fortune. He said the bigget regret was selling his Mk1 Fiesta Supersport, but that was before they were desriable about 25 years a go.

My friend popped round to where I was having the Clio worked on the other weekend in this. Not quite 90s but they stopped production in 91. 1 owner from new, garage stored with 25k

He gave me the keys to have a drive out, wow! Blast from the past but showed me how much has changed, no power steering it felt like the tyres were flat! No AC, no ABS, cassette player so no multi media or touch screen ? But it was cool with that little T2 turbo spinning up early in such a light car (840kgs)

It's been 10 years since my last 5 so it was good to be back behind the wheel.

^^ This. Engine swap in my Octavia wasn’t the easiest. It was easier to drop a BMW M20 engine into a Triumph 2000.

My daily driver hasn’t changed since they started making them in the early 1980’s
Getting into the Clio is like stepping forward in time even though it’s 14 years old.
But we’ve got a VW Up GTi on order. I bought the Clio as a stop gap for the missus but l like it do much that l am going to keep it.

It has a cassette player (but adapter with an aux Input) cruise, climate control, heated electric seats, electric windows front and rear... amazing for a 24 year old car!!

The XC-90's are particularly enormous vehicles though, like driving around in a small house.

There is a fella who lives near my parents who dailies an E34 M5 with the turbine wheels, the car is clean as hell. Reminds me of the one out of Ronin.
