172 cup airbags

As part of stripping my car how many airbags are located in the 172 cup?

The steering wheel has already been changed, there will be one in the drivers dash, can this be removed or unplugged etc?

Are there any others in the car?

Will removing all the rear seatbelts etc cause any problems or lights on the dash? I am reading removing the front seatbelts will cause a light but no mention of rears.

I have ordered a cage in the groupbuyfor sept, so am getting stuff stripped. I need to keep the passenger seat on a standard seatbelt and seat.

The drivers will be going for a bucket and harness to harness bar with the cage.

Ideally want as much weight as possible out but still save to use on the road.

Are there any stripping guides to what I can remove etc?

2 in the cup, one in the steering wheel one in the pass side of the dash. Easy to remove with the dash top off.

Rear seatbelts dont cause any issues with lights.

Is it easy to remove the passenger airbag? and then put the dash back on etc?

Would it save any weight or not worth bothering with?

yeah, 4 bolts if i remember rightly, 2 sets of wires to unplug. Every ounce counts lol

The passenger one is surprisingly weighty, I removed move as primarily track/comp car with full cage, buckets and 6 point harnesses.

Any chance of aquick walkthrough or tips on removing it @eon172 ? I have searched but cant seem to find any guides etc.
I removed the rear seat belts no problem so thats all done.

My idea is remove the airbag then get it all turned off if I can find a helpful soul with CLIP.

Top half of dash off, there's at least one guide on here for that, then you'll be able to see the airbag, for safety purposes don't forget to disconnect the battery, then it's just a case of unplugging the 2 connectors to the airbag (one each side), undoing 4 torx screws and the unit lifts out

no need to disconnect the battery.

Going back to this thread, I am removing this now, although struggling with the dash so I will go and check I haven't missed a screw somewhere. Pretty sure I haven't though from the Youtube video I am following.

how do I get rid of a removed airbag once it is removed? Can I just bin it or is that too dangerous, is there a proper method for getting rid? I don't fancy letting it off or fecking about with it!
