***How much is it worth?***

How do some fail so early JamesBryan?!

Luck of the draw really, but tensioner failure, waterpump failure, power steering failure, various pulley failures.

Many variables.

They either shred or jump off and go down between the two pulleys.

Can happen on pretty much any engine running this setup.

Sorry for hijacking the thread and taking it off on a tangent folks.

Going to see how things go and probably sell as is.

Any one interested, pm me.

Cheers,

Will

  dan's cast offs.
Aux belt and cam belt idler failure seem to be biggest cause on them, followed by dripping valve head BUT I've seen more bottom end failures over the last 6 months than belt failures.

Also aux belt tensioners can be solid after about 8 months as well so that can cause belt to jump.

Think Phil's was caused by the alternator bearings going.

I am new to the forum, looking for a steer on pricing for a potential purchase. Have found two cars of interest, very different by all accounts but both appeal in different ways. I am happy to buy a more expensive car but want to pay a fair price. Apologies if these cars are being sold by members on here! Where would you ballpark these two in terms of values?
1. 2002 172 Cup. 62,000 miles. Part service history. Enthusiast owned, knowledgeable advert. Decent condition inside and out, a few declared marks. Cambelt failure last year, head replaced/rebuilt (a little vague on the point). Cooksport springs, new front and rear shocks, whiteline ARB, matching tyres. Long MOT, only advisory 'oil leak'.
2. 2004 FF182, petrol blue. 117,000 miles. Full service history. Enthusiast owned, knowledgeable advert. Cambelt, aux belt and waterpump changed Dec 2015, refurbished gearbox and new alternator January 2016. PMS top mounts and brace, ITG induction kit, Yozza sport cat back exhaust, Recaro trendlines, unmarked Turinis. Long MOT no advisories.

Interested to know your thoughts.

Haven't been able to find them on here but that doesn't mean that they aren't!
Up for £3,250 and £3,500 respectively. Seemed expensive to me which is why I wanted to ask the question.

I would say 3k for the petrol blue because of spec and rarity of colour.
The cup would be closer to 2500 condition dependent.

Imo.

The PB 182 sounds a much better buy for the asking prices...and pretty rare to be fair! I don't think 3.5k is too far off tbh, closer to 3k would be ideal...!

Hate to say it but in my opinion people here well undervalue good examples of these cars... They're future classics at end of the day... Just look at prices of good example Pug GTI's etc now....

The PB is very similar to my 172 on mods, mileage etc and i'd put mine between 2-2.5k.. so seems fair.

  Abarth 595
Think its time for my 182 to go, any idea what sort of price I should put it up for?
Titanium silver
126k
MOT August 2018
Over due a cambelt change and no service history.
Body work is okay, small amount of rust on the bonnet - maybe the size of a penny.
Steering wheel shakes at higher speeds, approx 80+
oz ultraleggeras in graphite - in need of a refurb.
Yozzasport exhaust
I believe the coilovers are Weitec - could be wrong.

Drives fine and gets driven every weekend but obviously the mileage is high and it needs the cambelt doing.
Was thinking circa £1000? Does that sound about right?

Interesting. As I know a lad who’s driving down Sunday (2 hours) to view/buy. I also know the agreed price.

He was chatting to him today

From my understanding he’s agreed to buy subject to seeing it.

A bit s**t if this has now changed

He said he had somebody viewing it on Saturday, nothing about agreeing a price. He said I can view tomorrow eve but I think I’ll have to cancel now if somebody else is going, shame seemed a nice car

As there’s not really any for sale. How much would you lot expect to pay for a liquid yellow Clio r27.

Just over 80k
Just had the belts done including some preventative maintainance
Four continental premium contact 6 fitted recently
Heavily documented service history

Xenon with cornering lights
Splitter
Cup spoiler
Climate control
No tears in the recaros
r27 decals

H&R springs
20mm spacers
Liquid yellow dash strips and steering wheel insert
Bluetooth adaptor

Spare set of speedline alloys with Ns-2r tyres with loads of tread left
Spare set of ferodo ds2500s

There’s an option free 125000 mile one on ebay for £4300 but I like to think mine is worth a bit more.

It's in very good condition, just I fancy some recaro's. It also has leather door panels. Pics from the ad but I only drove it home and hasn't been used as of yet.
