I work hard for the £12 i use to get access to the marketplace in here ... i'm taking full advantage this year and i've started a project thread... 15 months after i got the car...

So I Bought APp03 OYZ from @pez84 in September 16. This was intended to be a track day car and a bit of fun for me as i'd just sold my evo and was "done" with cars.... again....

When i got the car it was on AVO GTX coilovers with pms top mounts. belts had been done. had bi marco futura seats, harnesses, rear cage, federal rsr + a bunch of spares.

fraser.J doing the decent thing and picking the car up for me! top lad

I decided that the car was going to be used for Superlap Scotland to compete, the old cage wasn't pleasing my eyes and decided that a full cage would be the best bet. It also helps if i decide to enter any other motorsport series, hill climbs etc etc

out with the old cage, in with a new sassa cage from tim finch. Additional cross welded into the roof. this was a terrbile idea and made fitting the cage a nightmare. Old seats and harnesses were removed and sold.
A new corbeau revolution ordered up and sabelt 6-point harness
Polycarbs ordered.
aerocatches for the bonnet
Wing mirrors and roof scoop painted and fitted
removed some more tar and cut out the doors to help with weight saving
headlights cut out, wiring chopped out
genuine cup racer hubs with wishbones were also purchased
as a result i had to lengthen the driveshafts to account for the extra width. a bit of a pain but nothing drastic
a gripper diff was put in with a lightened flywheel
the abs was removed and a cup master cylinder put in with cup brake lines / bias valve
calipers rebuilt. new discs and pads, new fluid and we are good for a shakedown.
the car also has solid engine mounts, rarb and a pms shifter which i forgot to mention earlier.

the car lasted me well pretty much all season with only an alternator giving me hassle until the last round.

the final consisted of many broken driveshafts and a snapped engine mount.

Somehow i managed to bodge the car back together in the final and nurse home a lap in the rain giving me 1st place on the day and 2nd place for the season!
Chuffed with how the first year went considering i only had 2 practice sessions in the car before the start of the year
AC36E40F-0718-41A8-95E1-75CD40FC0AA9_zps1lmebm8t.jpg

at the end of the season the car was stripped to help resolve the issues that i had throughout the final.

paddle clutch
new driveshafts
new discs and pads
fluid change
new rear calipers
pms engine mounts
pms rarb
cup subframe
fiberglass doors
fiberglass boot
fiberglass bonnet
new rear polycarbs as i didnt like them being bolted in
new cut off
new rain light
more wiring removed
wiper and indicator stalk removed and the necessary buttons put onto a panel mounted behind the steering wheel
full respray in storm grey as the car was a bit of a mess inside... not sure how this leads to a full respray but thats exactly what happened
new radiator
new expansion tank bottle

finally to try and eliminate variables at sls i have sourced 3 sets of the same wheel. saves me making poor excuses on the day about my wheels haha

Love the winter changes , and how clean the engine bay looks with the wiring cleaned up.

The engine bay looks super tidy but that’s because there is no coolant hoses haha!
We will see what I can get at the nec this weekend. Hopefully get it finished ASAP.

Testing time coming up soon [emoji16]

What day you going down to NEC ? I was tempted to go but away back to work on Sunday.
Did you try to see if Roose was interested in making a hose set.

I've been looking at doing the same with mine for the ignition - push button start.

What worry me though is if you flip one of the ignition toggles down would that turn the car off ... ?

How do you turn the car off? By pressing start again or cut off?

You may need to point me in the direction of your mate Paul haha

Ign1 doesn’t stop the car but ign2 would if it was flipped down.
Unlikely tho! (Famous last words haha)

Finally got myself a pms strut brace! Fitted it up tonight. Luckily the previous owner had the holes in the right place! Ha!

Also got round to fitting a couple of bits of cheap carbon.
The splitter was free so I thought why not! Might only last 15 seconds but worth it for a few photos before hand haha!

Small progress report but at least it is still progress!
Cut the end off my steering column because the wheel was sitting too close and it was annoying me.

Made up a male-male adaptor

Welded it onto my quick release boss. Cheer to select motorsport for sorting me out with it!

It should sit a few inches closer to the end of the column which was all I needed to make driving that Wee bit more comfortable.

No photos of it fitted to the car fully welded yet but those will be coming!

Also got my wheels powder coated my Damon @ wheelcoat in leven!

Thanks to @neil.a for dropping them off for me!

Just need some sticky rubber to put on them now [emoji16][emoji16]
