ClioSport Festival 17 feedback thread

CSF17 was brilliant for me in a few ways, I caught up with some old friends that I've not seen for quite some time, the admins as usual worked their ars3s off to give us a fab day and was great to get out on track.

One thing people mentioned about the marquee being a bit quiet in the eve, a lot of people are there for the social chit chat and it's very difficult to talk or be heard with the music so loud. Even sat outside the marquee it was incredibly loud!

Meeting Stuart was great too, I watched the telly programme he featured on so was really nice to meet him in real life. As I have taught several people with various disabilities to drive it was good to talk about how he coped when learning to drive.

I didn't have any issues with snoring in my cosy cottage though 😂

Roll on CSF18!

Where did you watch it? When I tried to give it a watch that episode wasn't online :(

You need to do it properly next year and camp lol

Maybe a communal fire, obviously nothing guy fawkes big but something to get everyone around when it gets cold maybe?

I think when people camp they love to get a camp fire going so maybe that instead of one of the evening events? I understand finding a spot to do it would be hard but just my 2p. Event was epic as always..

Location must be one of the hardest things to decide on - you'll never please everyone, but is Blyton likely to be used for next year or are the team considering alternatives?

Alternative venues are always being considered, and we do have some other options entering discussion in the next couple months, but it's too early to say if they will be feasible.

The reality is that very few venues will allow us to do everything we do at Blyton, and the ones that might are seriously more expensive. The club already subsidises the event each year by several thousand pounds (it was never invented to break even or make a profit) but obviously that can only go so far before the club is bankrupt.

A more expensive venue would require a much bigger attendance to justify it, so we need to try and estimate if this would happen naturally because its new and perhaps in a different part of the country. Alternatively we'd need to change the event to appeal to a bigger audience (i.e less ClioSport specific) which we don't really want to do.

Blyton works so well for us, but we would like to mix it up if we can.

Thanks Nik.

Of course you always need to consider new venues but I think if it's works well and does everything you want/need it to then why change just for the sake of it?

Of course a change might be needed if the venue becomes a bit stale, but until then if it ain't broke...

The best thing about Blyton is the track's very easy to learn with lots of run off if you get it wrong, plus the owners seem to think we're really well behaved compared to other clubs, which is insane because Saturday night is drunken f*cking chaos, but while they're happy with us enjoying ourselves and Javelin think we're well behaved on track, it seems the best venue for our needs.

As Nik has already said, whilst a change of venue might get a few more people to attend it's almost impossible to find another track that allows us to do what we do is going to be almost impossible. As soon as there's a mention of bands and alcohol the door slams shut.

We are very very lucky to have found a venue like Blyton and we have built up a fantastic working relationship with the owners. Richard told us on the Sunday whilst we were packing away that we are by far the best behaved club that attends the circuit.

That's a massive credit to you lot because despite us all having a good laugh and a manic piss up we all still act pretty responsibly and nobody ever does anything to embarrass the club.

There a few plans in the pipeline to scope out an alternative circuit but while we have the relationship we do with Blyton it's hard not to go back there.

Thanks for all your positive feedback. We will definitely take on board all your ideas and if they're feasible we will look at implementing them at future shows.

When I look at how far we've come since the CSS at Billing I'm amazed. The Admin team really do work bloody hard to get CSF organised and I'm glad the hard work seems to pay off.

Much love

There was one outside of the marquee. I slept in front of it for a while lol.

Css15 had a massive fire circle with everyone cracking on around it. I've been trying to replicate that ever since and nobody has joined in. Me and @Owen even laid out the chairs in a circle around it :(

I remember going for a piss at about 4am and there were still a few people around the fire then, will be one of them next year because I was fookin freezing

I'm not sure if want to drive further if there was no band, booze or pallets to burn and we had to be off early the next day. Blyton is only an hour from us but I'd happily drive longer to get there for csf.
