How old does the belt look? The car is 6 year old and on 110k. I bought it 3 weeks ago and the previous owner is unsure if they had the belt done during their 3 years of ownership. The "dont think" it was done.

It is booked in the garage tomorrow morning for the full service but im interested to see what you all think.

Does it look original from 6 years ago?

P.S its a Nissan Qashqai K9K 1.5 dci

'don't think it was done' actually means 'i've never even had it serviced'

Wrong bloke. It has full service history, just nothing to proove a major service. A very decent family who i bought it from, just not petrol heads. And Im glad they were honest and said they didnt think it had been done rather than lie and say it was.

That is a very naughty friend. Good thing i have noticed recently is that oil filters are dated so its easy to check. Plus you can tell if an oil filter has been changed within a year anyway. Airfilter is another good way of checking, when i viewed this one i took it out and could see it matched with the date of the stamp (roughly of course).

Lol you are so funny he he can not stop laughing here...

Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer?

You sound like you want to hear the good old “it doesn’t look that bad m9” so you don’t have to have it replaced, comfort blanket of strangers on a forum, comments.

The reality is, there is no way to tell how new/old a belt is, so if you have no paper work that its been done, and its due, get it done.

I stick by my original answer.

Danny, you win. Im not here for an argument.

It was a genuine question. Im an original member on here, not a new younger user. (Dont actually know what the "m9" banter is about, but i assume its a way of mocking people, prosumable the you ger generation)
I am fully aware you can never tel the age of a belt by simply looking. That was my mistake not making myself as clear as I should have in the initial post.

Pay my membership fee on here every year since 2009, its a brilliant forum but have to admit I can see why other social media forums have become so popular and there seems to be a trend in why people feel cs is not what it once was.

I applogise for making you reply and wasting your time.

working a in garage " full service " history dont mean much. We have 66 plate fords with oil n filter change no plugs etc when needed cause cheaper but still get a main dealer stamp. So should always be carefull still

How many 66 plate fords are ready for new plugs already? - unless I've misunderstood your post?

It is in the garage today getting done, and was always going to be done regardless of what was said in here. I posted out of general interest on the thoughts of others.

I rang the garage, they changed their systems last year and couldnt remember if it had been done by them but they did say it had a lot of other work done and was a good car.
