I don’t like whatsapp you see as it has to “log in” before you can send messages, where as iMessage doesn’t. iMessage isn’t an app, it’s just part of sending a normal text.

So hangouts is an app kinda like whatsapp then?

Yeah you get messenger and hangouts installed (on Nexus/pixel). Probably have to download it if you are on something else.

It's not integrated with the standard text message app like on iPhones but it does send text as well as video call, MMS etc.
This should be the next thing Google do tbh.

You used to be able to make Hangouts the default app for texts aswell. For some reason you can't now, so texts now come through messenger. God knows why it changed

You won't be able to put an sd card in if using 2 sims so if you get one get the lager capacity one.

How is it? Had a play on a friends, screens too big for me but can appreciate how good the experience is. Be interested to see if you can tell the different between the ultra HD resolution and the regular HD setting.

You can tell the difference between lowest and highest but not middle to high I don't think. I see no reason to turn it down as battery life is still all day for me.

I don't house Facebook or other battery munchers on my phone though.

Anyone interested in battery life against the iPhones etc. Note 8 did well for its "teeney" battery.

As I said months ago the new Snapdragon set up and software has transformed battery life on smaller capacity.

Be interesting to see how the new pixels compare to the current big hitters.

Can have the Pixel2 October 19th. The XL won't be available until November 15th.

Same internals, just screen and battery differentiates the two. Not sure what i want now.
Still looking at Note 8 for some reason, also the oneplus 6 will be out soon.

Fully migrated across to the S8

I must say that i was very impressed with the simplicity and ease of transferring everything from IOS to android

So far so good. I'll keep posting updates as I go .

Yeah but I couldn't transfer all my saved passwords.

I like Android now. Would be nice to utilise Google assistant more but doesn't seem to integrate with Samsung all that well.

Just another update a few weeks in. Hammered it today. YT via Chromecast and Spotify via Bluetooth in the car including calls. Location on most of the day for sky bet checks.

Editing pics for Instagram. General messing around. Especially with the s pen

I went to cpw last week.
It's available in mid November so likely to see contract prices coming end Oct, early Nov.

I'm considering the normal sized one atm as it's available Oct 19th but I'm hoping some places will have them both in to see the size difference.

I think you would have to be used to a small phone to use the small one. Going from 5.5 even to 5 is almost impossible.

I haven't looked at the sizes properly but I know one is bigger than my 6p and one is smaller. Not sure how much bigger I'd want to go tbh (girls hands)

I went from 5.5 to 4.7 with no issues. I guess it’s down to what you use the phone for.

It's not all about size though. My note 8 is bigger than my 4 was but the shape means it's 100 times easier to use and handle!

There's a few mentions of the S8 in the comments, all saying that it would be fine for the S8, anyway if not I'll store the vids on the phone and everything else on the card.

My partners brother took one along on holiday with us over the weekend, looked pretty good. I can ask which one it was if you like and if he recommends it.

Personally I'd just get another iPad though, especially as they've recently reduced the price of the non-Pro version.

Picked a Note 8 up today after humming and hawing over jumping back to IOS. What a lovely device. Feels very like my old Note 7 but with bigger screen.

Currently trying to find a bigger memory card (swapped my 64Gb card from my S7 Edge) for all the pics we have, particularly of the kids. @gally you'll be discovering just how many pics you take of the babies lol.

Currently in awe of the display. So big yet not too bulky.

Just feels amazing in the hand, even with my thin samsung case at work it actually feels a great size!

Amazing piece of tech, amazing! I also have 180 pictures of the baby in 7 days (some from other people) and 4 x 4k videos to swoon over!

Mental! My daughter currently have 995 in her album on my phone!
