Audi RS3

There's one in this colour around here
Yeah, i think if i was buying one with a choice of colour, i would have gone for Nardo, but then, you need black leather with that really, which im not so keen on. I've grown to like the black now, although it does look dirty 100% of the time, which is a little bit of a pain - the Boxster on the other hand (in Guards Red) still looks clean even though we haven't actually cleaned it since we bought it in October 😂
Mega expense for the RS3 yesterday though, 4 x new tyres :weary:

The front 2 Pirellis were bald, then one of the (new) rears got a puncture. Even though it had been "fixed" by Kwik Fit it was still going down, so i decided to replace all four with the new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. £771 later (Blackcircles, fitted at ATS), the difference between these & the PZeros is very obvious, even just pootling around town, cant wait for a decent journey in them:

As an aside, the reason the rear tyre was still going down was pretty apparent with the tyres off.
Kwik fit hadnt fixed the tyre, it still had the flipping screw in it!!

My M135 is black and also looks filthy most of the time. I like black cars though and you can always wash it before you take it to a wedding etc :)

I got one of these in Nardo as a courtesy car at the moment. Its got the sports exhaust on it and I feel like abit of a chav in dynamic mode. It is bloody loud!

Great courtesy car, when I had my 182 new they gave me a 1.2 clio campus I think.
A campus! That's epic compared to mine. When I stuck my m3 in I got a 1 litre fiat panda. To be fair though it was brilliant. 100% throttle everywhere. Put a huge grin on my face

WTF, when my Audi A3 went in for a repair one month after it was delivered, I got a f**king Citreon C1!

I saw one earlier on, booting it round Homebase's car park! They had the exhaust etc, but they looked like complete dicks because if where it was :unamused:

@Irfan came on our NW drive in his the other week, really similar spec. Sounded absolutely incredible, no idea if the standard exhaust is much tamer, but still, lovely bit of kit!

Much classier than the two a penny Golf Rs.

Mine had the factory optional sports exhaust and Milltek down pipe with sports cat. Secondary cats removed. Deserves an asbo at times [emoji23]

Firstly, this wasn't an intentional purchase, i was perfectly happy with my green Mini and obviously Audi's are for people that like to understeer everywhere, xenons blazing. Especially the faux by faux ones with auto boxes. The Golf Gti/R however, had my interest, so i was looking at them. Alot. Unfortunately, it seemed that 99% of Golf R's were lease-spec poverty things without leather, so the ones with decent nav/speakers/leather/DSG were all rare/rather expensive and the VW dealers that i visited/spoke to also appeared rather inept. With that in mind, I was essentially getting nowhere quickly. Hell i hadn't even test driven one ...

Then a business associate (not @Waitey, although he did try & flog me his, a lot) asked me if i wanted his RS3 as he was only going to trade it in with Audi anyways ... a quick play on the Barclays app, a loan extension to near Greek levels of debt & i agreed to pick the car up last Thursday. Oops.

He wasn't that into cars, so was unsure on the exact spec, but from what i gather from poking around the car it has the following:
Technology Pack with Audi Connect, Comfort & Sound Pack, Magnetic Ride, Audi Phone Box, Lunar Silver Supersport Seats, Extended Mono Purr trims, Folding Mirrors, Extended Matt Exterior, Titanium Wheels (wider fronts) & Mythos Black paint.

He got it serviced (£380 for an oil change & an "inspection") & put 2 Pirellis on before i collected it - although unfortunately Kwik Fit being Kwik Fit, they've rotated the wider front wheels to the rear 😂 They also put the two other directional Pirellis on the wrong way round last November, so they are pretty much knackered after only 3k miles. Muppets. So im currently unsure whether to buy two more Pirellis (£400), or four Pilot 4S (£800), then sell the Pirellis he just had fitted ... as its on 36k miles, it also needs spark plugs & s-tronic oil change in 2k miles (£400).

Since Thursday, ive done 1k miles in it and my initial impressions are as follows:
The technology, interior quality & engine are utterly epic. The noise (despite not having a sports exhaust) is also rather amusing for something that is currently as the manufacturer intended. The gearbox is very good most of the time, albeit a little keen to get into 7th at 30 mph, start stop works quite well, but i still hate the car going from silent>noisy, silent>noisy every time i stop in a traffic jam. Speed wise, it doesn't feel that quick when you are accelerating (but it is), with no massive "WTF" kick in the back of the head, but if you are rolling at say 50 mph & hoof it so it kicks down, bugger me its swift. Cross country pace, considering it rained all the way home to Cornwall and all the way back, is umm, quick. It weighs as much as a small house, so even in the wet, it feels very planted on the road. The steering is light, but i don't find myself instantly thinking "god this is awful" like i did in the M135i. Although perhaps that is because i expected far more from the BMW, i expect the Audi to be, well Audi like.

Some poor pictures, its filthy already. Black ftl.

Parking like an Audi driver, next to the car that i also part own, but never see as Sarah has it all the time 😂

I'll update this as & when, but initial impressions are very good if i'm entirely honest, it feels like the car that my beloved R32 would have developed into over the years if VW hadn't gone for 4 cylinder only

Very nice car! Looks the same as mine externally but I have the darker interior.

Have you got any plans for the car? Get yourself over to Audirs3oc.com if you need help :)

Owning / holding cars like this don't make finance sense; only ever a 12-18m affair, or you lose too much.

I prefer the older phase, exterior RS3 styling. That interior / seats are really nice.

That's hilarious @Darren S
The place I was working at required you to be suited and booted, too. I looked a prize bell-end getting out of that at work. Needless to say, I copped for a fair amount of flak from colleagues too.

The ONLY saving grace was that it used like an egg-cup's worth of petrol that entire time. And I gave it death.... or a very liberal interpretation of that, in one of those.

Well a deals now been done on this. No private buyers were interested, so having been messed around by a couple of traders who "would deffo buy it mate, ill pay a deposit now/collect tomorrow", i've simply part-ex'd it. Price wasn't amazing, but its not the end of the world as i paid trade for it in March anyways. Costs wise, including having to service it & buy 4 tyres, the 6 months/5k miles has cost me £360 a month/43p a mile (exc. ins/tax/fuel), which i didn't think was too bad.

Personally, i think as a daily driver/family car, this is probably one of the all round cars out there & id certainly love to own another!
On the flipside, given the choice between selling this & the Porsche, with no kids to ferry about, it wasn't a difficult decision for us to make

Great price tbh..so what was it px'd against?
An auto 330d lol. I'm now officially a "sensible daily driver" person 😂
What price did you get for it in the end Dave? Must have been low 30's surely?
Exactly that, all the "driveway traders" were offering me £30k & failing to pay me a deposit/turn up when they promised, so i've just traded it against the BMW. That way i get a new car & £20k back in my bank account, so all is good

Yes thought so. Its a fair price to be honest. Usually with a PX downwards you have to bend over so I think you have done well with that. Unless the 330d was 5k overpriced of course

It was probably a little overpriced (compared to private, but dealer, ok cost i think) ...
But then again, its immaculate, in the right spec, recently serviced & with new tyres/discs/pads all round, so im happy enough :grinning:
