O2 have apparently tweeted and confirmed that they have no plans to support the AW3.

Apps are growing, I've seen some that are well over 1gb.

79p a month? I'd rather that than an extra £150 on the phone. Plus what happens when you loose your phone?

It's all backed up wirelessly to my MacBook via photo stream and then seamlessly to the Timecapsule without pressing a button.

I don't know if I'm just thick but I genuinely don't get wireless charging.. it just makes charging worse, less flexible.

You can't charge and use the f**king thing at the same time. It's just a total gimmick. With a cable, it's plugged in and you can use the phone. With 'wireless' it's stuck in that exact location if you want it to charge. Mental.

Quoted so if/when you get the new iphone and discover how good wireless charging is you can be reminded.

I use it everyday at work, just have a pad on my desk and plonk the phone on it when battery gets abit low.
Am in/out a fair bit and using the phone sometimes so find it much more useful than faffing around with a cable.
Charging pads in cars is ace, no issues with going somewhere and finding your battery is on it's last legs when you arrive.

Mind you, this is on Android where battery life isn't great anyway, plus new iphone is supposed to be even better.

I was thinking the opposite tbh, since iCloud I can't see me needing more any time soon. I've got about every photo / video I've taken in 6 years (approx 12,000), a s**t load of apps including TomTom etc and a bit of music (mostly stream now anyway) and I'm nowhere near the 64GB limit. iCloud photos just works seamlessly to keep the full size versions of old photos in the cloud so I don't use all the space.

Yeah true the optimise photo option does help but it can use a lot of mobile data if you want to look back at a lot of videos while not on a wifi connection and just isn't ideal in some cases. It works but I definitely preferred to have the full versions stored but its personal preference I guess.

Now I'm on unlimited data it wouldn't matter so much but was on 5gb before and couldn't just go watch old video's without thinking about the data usage.

That’s what’s putting me off, don’t want to get one now as it seems a waste if cellular doesn’t work, but also don’t want to get non cellular as Three will probably support it in the future. Eurgh.

Using the phone whilst charging it also wrecks the battery.
Bullshit (asshole, no one liked the. Laptops would explode if that was case with Li batteries!

I'm a heavy business user of my phone and generally it only gets charged at night, put it on before I go to bed, wake up fully charged. Done.

If I had a wireless pad by the bed every time I checked the time, or answered a message, or set my alarm, or anything then it'd come off charge. It just bares no use for me.

How would doing that stop your phone from being fully charged by the morning using a wireless pad?

If anything it's better isn't it? No need to be dragging a lead around when checking or unplugging it if you need an emergency 2am dump.

But, you still wake up fully charged. Done.

What about that doesn't work for you? Just because it's a change you've decided you don't like? I'm not seeing any reason why it won't work for you or even be better!

I bet you now it's made it to the iphone wireless charging will suddenly be the best thing since sliced bread.

Before it was just heathen Android sorcery, now it's divine Apple power - a real gift from the gods.

Hopefully there now won't be issues with charging the mrs iphone or my android, should just be both able to use wireless pads??

(She's always breaking or loosing her cable, then moaning her phone has run outa charge)

You just know they won't use the same protocols and standards...

That face ID will definitely 100% work. Even though he fucked it on the demo. Haha. They’d never release something that was worse than Touch ID, which I think works brilliantly as it is.

Apparently it doesn't work very well at all. Lots of reviews saying that it needed to be held at a specific distance and angle etc and even then it was very hit and miss as to whether it unlocked, they kept having to turn the displays on and off on the demo units to eventually get them to unlock. And this is with the demo units trained to a specific member of apple staff.

Touchid is convenient, you can be unlocking the phone before it's out of your pocket, with faceid, you have to get it out, hold it up, wait for it to recognise your face, swipe up to unlock. It's just not as fluid or convenient mechanism.

Plus to pay for stuff, now you have to double click the side button, hold the phone up so it recognises you and then touch it to the reader - again, it's not as convenient as just hold the phone over a reader and then hold your finger on the touch sensor.

I think the phone looks stunning, I'm less than convinced about faceid being anything other than a bit of a hinderance.

I wouldn't count on anybody other that ee supporting it for quite a while, clearly it needs some network trickery to work and three don't have support for visual voicemail and how long has that been available? Is it still only o2 and ee that have support for it?

Two things.

1) I do not get face id. They shouldn't have put it in as the only way to unlock the phone. even swipe up to enter passcode as a second option would be better. You can only set up one face with Touch ID. Meaning I now won't be able to see when my Mrs has been on the cheat.
2) Wireless charging. I completely agree with @Rob . What is the actual point. It not wireless charging because the pad needs a WIRE!! f**king pointless.

Will still get one though. Baller gotta ball.

If rumours are true that Apple couldn't get under the screen TouchID to work, and that it will be included in next year's device, then it could be a winner.

Until that point I'll stick with my 7, and if I was going to upgrade (if cost wasn't an option) I'd still go with the 8 over the X.

If wireless charging does become truly wireless then it will be brilliant. However, if your phone is constantly charging when you're at home then surely that will degrade the battery quicker?

I'm sure it will at some point but like you say, not until they have worked out how to save battery.

Also did nobody see the actual Keynote. Face ID failed on the live test lol.
Yep. It was quite funny, he went into an instant sweat. He must have been major panicking that it was going to work on the "backup" phone.

I'll be face id a go but ill probably just use a code and disable face ID. If you can that is.

Probably can disable it. From what I've seen though it's lightning quick as long as you're looking at the screen, so there's no reason not to use it.

I've never understood why these presentations aren't fully staged?

They don't need to show an actual phone working, just fake it and demonstrate how it will work - no-one will know the difference.

There's generally no need to. The phone doesn't differ that differently underneath the hood than the billion or so other iPhones that they've already sold and people use day in day out without problem.

There's always the risk that a new feature might not work exactly as planned, but that's how Apple work (Hello Mac back in the day). If a tech company got caught faking a technology demo then they'd be panned hard for it and rightly so.

It was embarrassing for them considering it was the "standout" feature, but it failed, but hey ho.

What I don’t understand is they were happy to fit the cameras in that stupid black band up the top, why not have a matching one down the bottom for a Touch is scanner that doesn’t need to be as big as the button on current phones
