It's all about the detail... RB 182 Cup.

  Fiesta ST180
I'm one of those that has a habit of saying I'm detailing my car when I'm actually just giving it a weekly wash, but as the weather has been nice and my 182 cup is sat comfortably in the garage, I thought I'd do a more detailed clean. Any excuse to enjoy the sunshine!

I started with the seatbelts, which were particularly grubby to start with. Usual method of removing the lower torx bolt, allowing the belt to soak in a gentle wash solution and then scrub until clean! I also lowered the rear seats to allow the bucket to get closer, soaking more of the belt.

I then removed the rear lights to clear away some of the dirt built up behind them. Very easy to remove, just unscrew from inside the boot and pull out, taking care to tuck any wires away whilst cleaning to avoid them getting wet.

Never forget areas like this on a weekly 'detail'!

The engine bay was in dire need of a tidy up. It's nice to see the original battery is still going strong on a 12 year old car. Here are some before and afters.

The car is actually up for sale at the minute but the more time I spend on it, the more I'm tempted to keep it! I've started to put a coat of Autofinesse Temptation on it and the colour really does look glossy.

Thanks for reading.

Thanks. Yes they are, fitted by the previous owner. Probably to replace hazy ones, these are perfect!

I'd always had an itch for a Racing Blue 182, so I bought one with the intention of it replacing my leased Fiesta ST when the contract ends in October. Don't get me wrong, it's a great car but it just doesn't replace it! It's a perfect weekend car but after driving it to work and back for a week or two, I quickly tired of it. But then again I am used to a much newer car! I've decided to sell and lease another new car. Somebody will get a great cup though.

I nearly did the same thing. Drove two hours in my Firsta ST to buy a RB 182 to use as a second car. I just couldn't believe how dated it was up to the ST and drove home with the cash still in my pocket! You can't beat a new car for the daily driver.

That's it. I don't want it to come across as snobby, but I have all the creature comforts and everything else that comes with a new car. A 182 Cup is a different world. If you're after a go kart for the road, they're perfect. I bet I smile more in a 182! Also they are so much rarer, especially in Racing Blue! I see Fiesta ST's everywhere...

Probably the best all round car I've had. Never really was sold on the looks (mainly the rear end - looks pants) but it was a cracking car. The speed you could take a corner was laughable.

I think it was about 10C outside when I went to buy the 182. The heated seats in the ST were just too good

Chris Harris did say they were the quickest bum warmers on the planet! They are brilliant cars, it's just too easy to go fast. A 182 is more involving. I once had an outing to Wales and ended up swapping to my friends 172 Cup. Ended up taking it back to England! But as an all rounder I'll come back to an ST any day.

Engine bay looks fantastic. Just out of interest what products did you use to clean it as I need to do similar to mine??

  Fiesta ST180
Usual degreaser to clean up the muck, with little brushes and microfibres. I had some Demon Shine Rapid Dirt Shifter left over to use.

Then to dress, I cheated. I actually just sprayed Auto Glym Vinyl and Rubber Care liberally over the engine bay. Then shut the bonnet and walk away! Obviously be careful to not soak any electrics/sensors but it works a treat. Well it must have looked decent - car is now sold :)
