Relief, he's texted me that the funds are cleared and is delivering it to my work tomorrow morning! Couldn't be more helpful!

Not on PH but am aware of it.
Read up on some long threads and decided that I'd risk it, the car uses virtually no oil according to the previous owner, and he wouldn' t know about the problem so would have no reason to lie. No puff of smoke on start up. As Dave said it was sold by a very good Porsche specialist, and the car underwent a full inspection a few months ago when it went for a replacement window motor and came back with a clean bill of health. He paid £200 just for the inspection so I'm hoping that would have included IMS, RMS and the bores.

Although to be honest I like the car, have taken a risk and I'm hoping it's a bit like Clio cam belts snapping at 72,001 miles and is just general internet scaremongering.
Worst case I drive it into a tree!

Edit, @Sir_Dave not sure how long it will stay, but might be able to afford a 911 in a years time so might be natural progression!

Looks more expensive that the £13k price tag. I assumed it was another £10k or so more.

I quite like it, but I wouldn't have sold the V6 for it :tongueout:

Needs must dude, not in a good enough financial position for a £20k car sat on the drive doing 1k a year.

Seller dropped the car off to me at work this morning, really nice guy. Wouldn't even accept some money for the taxi to his work!
Couldn't even touch it until 6 tonight when I left work as I've had a customer inspection all day so been a very long wait. Drives so nice, the sound is beautiful if a little less dramatic than the V6. Everyone thinks I've spent £50k on it!

Can't wait to get it cleaned and spend some time on it, and get out for a decent drive. Away all next weekend though so will have to wait.

Everyone at work thinks I'm on more than I really am as I own a Porsche. Utimately, at £12k, it's not really 'expensive'

Nice work on that Cayman, I was so undecided between a Cayman and Boxster, preferred the Cayman but I felt you got more for your money with the Boxster, that said, you got a great deal.

Bit of an update after using the car for a bit….love it.

Needs a huge clean so I've ordered some new bits from CYC, looking forward to spending a full day and giving it a good polish up and detail. Gave it the first quick scrub today just before it starting raining, hence the s**t pictures:

A few plans:

New wiper blades on order.
Fresh oil and filters change.
Wheel refurb.
Little bit of paint.
Possibly something exhaust related for a bit more noise.

Just looks so sleek in silver with those wheels. Same combo my boss had.

Hayward and Scott in Essex do an exhaust mod for the Porsches. It ends up being the same as the PSE upgrade where you bypass the rear muffler on full throttle. You just don't have the switchable option. But lets face it, when you have that noise, why would you ever not want to hear it.

Any videos of a spirited drive? :p

£13k is such a bargain for one of those.

EDIT: and looking about, at that price, i reckon £2-3k under what most are up for currently! Good buy!

Looks lovely and perfect wheels for it. They sound sublime with an exhaust on. The manifolds are the main cause of restriction if you ever start wanting more power.
Warm the engine properly and keep on top of the servicing with decent oil and it will be fine. If you have an queries let me know. :)

Yeah Carbon ceramnic brakes, cost a bloody forutne to replace but they have virtually no wear on them! Absalutely pathetic stopping power on a cold winters morning, literally s**t as fook... once warmed up they are pretty epic. This has the PASM and Chrono package, after 10minutes of seeing it in person I placed a deposit!

Beautiful

Proper brakes too. Calipers are pure p**n.

Thought about taking the ceramics off and storing them until resale time? And just using a similar sized steel equivalent in the mean time?

Yeah I did consider selling these or swapping them over, I won't spend any more money on the car unless it's a service etc. They are expensive to mod and to be honest not worth it, nice as they are standard! An exhaust and manifold combo will set you back a good 1K+, coilovers etcs are 2k+. If I was going to mod the car I'd get an eariler gen or possibly a Boxster S.

I didn't say mod the car :p

I said change the ceramics for OEM steel discs. And preserve the ceramics for resale time. Depending on how long you plan on keeping the car it might work out a lot cheaper in the long run.

Steel discs now, which are more than sufficient for fast road and occasional track use, are much cheaper than ceramics in say a couple of years time. Unless that's a time scale in which those ceramics wouldn't have even worn anyway..

Then just re fit the barely worn ceramics when you want to sell it.

Stop stealing my thread with your better colour, spec car with epic brakes!!!

I just fancy a bit more noise, love mine to bits but just be nice to have a bit more drama. Hard coming from a V6 with a noisy exhaust.

Agreed. All sports cars or petrolheads should have noise!

The economy on my 987 isn't much worse than the Golf Gti (TFSI) - Until I put my foot down, which is very easy with the noise! I'm even tempted to retrofit the PSE now.

Haha sorry :innocent: Yours does look mint in silver with those alloys though!

Gave the car a bit of love at the weekend whilst I was hungover badly.
Snowfoam, wash, iron x, wash, detar, wash, got bored after that. Also gave the headlights a polish up as they were going a bit like the Clios do.

Loving it to bits but thinking about putting it up for sale to see if I can make any profit, then waiting until the weather draws in and buying a better one for the same money.

Honestly, there aren't any S's up at £13k.

Put it up at £16500 and see what happens, nothing to lose!

Would you actually end up with a better one that what you have now though? If so how much better..

Lower miles, nicer colour, better spec. Not sure really.
Not fussed if it doesn't go, but the thought of maybe £1-2k profit isn't a bad shout really.
