Mine had a crack in the same place, they replaced it for a tubular style centre section, been fine since - touch wood. pics in my project thread somewhere.

How old is the battery? most likely its just an old batt, the cold weather doesnt help. I've just swapped mine over, was struggling to start in the cold, 063 battery from carparts4less, starts great now.

Yep the slide batteries are interchangeable I believe. Also I didnt word it very well but will the milwaukee buzz wheel nuts off? looks like a great bit of kit, same sort of size as the 10.8v makitas ? they are so handy.

I was wondering if they could make the digitzer not bonded to the LCD ? so if you happen to break the screen you can replace it without having to do the LCD as well like the iPads. I haven't upgraded since the 6 so i'll be interested to see what the new phone is like.
