Electrical Issue - Trying to Start Kills Everything

Thread bump to close this out. After using some injector cleaner it was running ok again. It was occasionally lumpy for a few seconds when first started but would then be fine for he rest of the drive. It carried on like this for a few months until it suddenly deteriorated and was very rough...

Electrical Issue - Trying to Start Kills Everything

Ok so I took a look at it last night and whilst disconnecting the negative terminal clamp the wire just slipped out! It had worked lose which must have given a poor connection. Tightened it up and it started up straight away. Great news, however after maybe 30 seconds or so it started to have...

Electrical Issue - Trying to Start Kills Everything

I'll give this a go as soon as I get a dry evening (currently going through a patch of classic Welsh summertime!). If it fixes it then I'll have to start hunting for the dodgey earth (I'll start with the gearbox one though). Cheers for the input so far guys.

Electrical Issue - Trying to Start Kills Everything

Yeah they're tight. Will give that a try and see what it shows. Presumably you'd expect to see a momentary voltage drop?

Electrical Issue - Trying to Start Kills Everything

Nope, there is a click and everything goes dead. It's like it's blowing a fuse, except you can reset it. I have AA cover that includes the home help option so I'm tempted to give them a call one evening this week and see if they can diagnose it....

Electrical Issue - Trying to Start Kills Everything

Last weekend I drove my Clio 182 20 miles no problem, parked up ran a few errands, jumped back in and it started up fine, but whilst turning the car around it seemed like the engine was bogging down and I nearly stalled the car because the revs wouldn't pick up like normal, this problem went...

iOS 6.1 is out, Now 6.1.3

Re: iOS 6.1 is out, Now 6.1.2 Hi guys, I updated to 6.1.2 yesterday and it has screwed up the battery life. It was previously lasting 2 days per full charge with pretty heavy use (Internet use at least) and now lasts about 6-7 hours with next to no use! I went into an Apple store and they...

    Fans On Full Power

Whilst driving the other day, my fans decided to go on full power. I have no control of the fans power anymore, it is full all the time from the second you turn the key. I can still control temperature, and direction of the fans (at your feet, windscreen etc) but just always full power! I...

    Bronze cap on rear hub.

This keeps the grease in though doesnt it? Dont see why you would want to remove it (other than to get to the nut to take the disc off of course). I would say it is definitely worth keeping on though, so re-fit it if you are doing a rear disc change.

    Fancy alloy alternator setup

hhmm this is making me a little worried. I just thought it would be hard work parking etc, which I would just put up with.

    Fancy alloy alternator setup

You can keep the standard 172 rack no problem. At least this is what the guys at pure motorsport have done on their racecar. I spoke to them about this, and they said they have kept the existing rack, and just put a small section of pipe between the two ports to essentially seal the oil in there.

    Rear Hub Deflectors

No they are not against the old bearings. Only the bearing seals are present. And on one side the seal had come away and the bearing cage has disintegrated, hence noisy bearing. But defo no deflectors, after looking at pictures in the guides on here, and in the workshop manual. This would...

    Rear Hub Deflectors

I was changing the rear discs on the weekend, and discovered that my car didn’t have the spacer that goes between the disc and the hub (called a deflector). I have these parts on order now, with the car on stands until I get them as I didn’t want to risk damaging the new bearings by fitting...

    Radio Code... Confused!

So after having some work done on my car I lost the code due to the battery being disconnected. I got MATT BLACK to give me the code, but this didn’t work, and he said get me the code on the side of the unit and I will get you the proper code as it would appear your radio has been changed at...
