My Kangoo Cup Dci Build Thread

  Kangoo 172 Cup ;)
Great work mate, surely car maker should take note to carve out another nitch though what a nitch it could be. Speed and space how convieniant :)

How does the weight compare to the 172?

From my workings out on some weight differences between petrol vs diesel kangoos, and petrol vs diesel vs 172 clio, it should be around 100kg lighter than a 172, but I will get it on the scales at my mates work when its done out of curiosity.

So your looking at under a ton perhaps? Epic.

This project is insane and that's what makes it so awesome. Keep up the good work mate!

Cheers

This is so epic.
When it's running we need to go out for a play. I'll stick the gopro on the roof of the clio and do some videos ;)
Cheers Phil! Gonna have a fiddle with a few bits tonight an try and sort the problem with it running on 3 / missing. Should be on the road in a week all going well :)

Thanks for the support so far guys! Need to sort a fuel filter somewhere down the feed line, some more fuel pipe PMT joins by the looks of things. Think I might go alloy tank and inline pump in a few months. Ordered a new set of plugs today to which might help things a bit.

Right, so I have found the cause of the misfire, dodgy ignition lead on number 1.

Another fault i am having issues with are that the battery light and oil pressure light are on when the engine is running. Oil pressure is fine and the battery is charging. I have tried grounding the oil pressure switch cable and it made no difference. Any ideas would be great.

I was gonna suggest the timing was wrong but if you're sure it's the lead :)

Regarding the oil, you may need to trace the wire from the sensor back thru to the clock set. I'm betting there's an error somewhere and the clock set is in open circuit meaning the light is on. Prob the same with the battery light to.

That's what I was thinking. Spent so much time tracing cables. Lol. Cheers Mick, will have a crack in a few day when I get time.

Absolutely love it. I thought about doing this a few years ago actually, when I got rid of the cup the first time.

So I have a set of NGK plugs coming, and a nice set of KV85 ignition leads to replace the poor leads that are causing the misfire I have at the moment :)

I have a friend coming over Saturday to fabricate and tig weld the correct flange to meet the cat, and make up all the hangers :).

I will also be making up anyway shield for the fuel tank and brake lines it will run near to.

utterly fantastic work, showing a few arabs over here in tunisia and they all gave a nod of approval (thats like a gold seal win over here) lol

Mini update, left work today at 1:30 and managed to get a few bits done on the van.

Rear lights are all spliced in and working.
Inline fuel filter fitted.
Front drive shafts, hubs, brakes and dampers fitted.
Gearbox filled with oil.

Looking forward to getting cracking again at the weekend.

Another mini update:)

Heater now wired in after having to make a dedicated loom.
Wiper cables extended and spliced in, different pin setup.

See how we get on tomorrow :)

  Kangoo 172 Cup ;)
I will be hooking pics up today :)

Right! It's the weekend and my aim is to get it finished in the next 2 days! Gonna be a lot of work, but I think we can do it.

Down the unit we go!

  Kangoo 172 Cup ;)
Right guys!

I have left my laptop down the unit :(

On the plus side, the van is finished!!!!!

Tracking needs sorting tomorrow, but everything works as it should, it stops fine, all lights work, heater and everything works, but most of all, it sounds mental and goes like a rocket!

It is such a giggle to drive!

I will pick up my laptop in the morning once I have had the tracking sorted and update with loads of pics, and 3 little videos we took to :)

Big thanks to 3 top mates, Mark, Matt and Will for helping and fabricating any parts for exhaust etc that I needed and all the time and long days + nights they spent helping me get my daft idea off the ground, big respect!

Will be back tomorrow ;)

Can't wait to see the videos. I bet it does shift. What's it like in the corners? Handle well etc with the amount of power you have now?

It just gets better and better doesn't it.

Well done on finishing it all without any major issues.
