Selling my classic mini to buy a 1.2 16v clio

  2005 Clio 182
As my insurance is up on my classic mini and I'm thinking about buying a 1.2 16v clio

Then putting the 172 sport wheels on it, matching exhaust lowered, thoughts? :approve:

My mini is my pride and joy but I just want something that is a little better going long distance and more reliable! :dapprove:

I've had two (and a half) and i've never regreted selling a car soo much. Mini is cool, 1.2 clios are proper heaps.

good thing about this forum is not everyone has clios, i think most maybe all have owned one at one point but there are a lot of people on here who dont own clios.

True that... I sold my first one regretting it more than anything and that was because I finished sorting the one out I drive now, whats so bad about 1.2 clio's?

1.2s are boaty heaps of unreliable crap, no fun and look pants.

Minis might be a tad unreliable and rusty but at least they're cool and fun.

I thought the 1.2's were quite reliable?

Then again at least when a mini is unreliable they're cheap enough to fix!

I've only ever been scared properly in two cars, one was a 998 mini with yoko A048s the other was my 1380 clubman with the same tyres on.

just grips at ridiculous speeds.

Mini has soul, you cannot trade that for 1.2, you're going to regret it.
Man up and save up for something nicer.

Like a nice Stage 4 1330 for it? haha

Biggest problem with a mini is there are so many around me getting stolen :dapprove:

keep the Mini, I am not a big fan of the Mini but nice to see one around as they are so rare around here

and even if you get a 1.2 don't mod it please ! will look gash !

The Mini looks screwed, I'll give you £500 right now for it.

I of course lie - KEEP IT!

Your mini is cool, but having owned them for years and doing 10s of thousands of miles in them I have to say if its a long distance car you want they arent much good compared to a modern car, hence most people on here although they all think they are cool dont drive one. lol
Every journey in an old mini is like a little epic voyage, all great fun and all that when its just social, but sometimes for work etc you just want to get in a nice comfy modern car and know you are going to get there without any fuss.

Ive still got a couple of minis (one 998 and one with a vauxhall 1.8 engine in it on twin carbs) and I cant imagine ever not owning one TBH (even though ive not driven mine for years and they are just sat gathering dust, lol) but I also cant imagine ever wanting to go back to relying on one as my only car like I did for years and years.

In short : Mini = ideal weekend != ideal daily

I loved my 1977 Mini! Black with With Weller 8 Spokes. Blew 2 engines but was a right giggle.

Agree that for long distance they are a pain lol.

1.2s aren't bad at all for cheap cars tbh. but it wont be anywhere near as much fun as the mini. A set of coilovers will make it more fun on a B road, but still not a mini.
