taxing a car after SORN?

  PB Clio 172
as above I am about to tax my Clio RS after SORN is it as simple as going to the post office with my v5??
soz if I sound stupid but I have never done this before!

As usual, the car needs to be insured and MoTed. I'd buy it online unless you need to pay cash. Then you just need the number from your V5C.

I SORN'd my clio when I was working away. When I returned MOT had ran out.

Simply called the MOT station to arrange a booking. Once passed obtained tax the usual way at the post office. Filled in a form I found from the .gov website and the cashier didn't even look at it!

I hate going to the post office to tax a car. I always get stuck behind Doris who is buying 1 stamp but takes 2 hours to do it.

Then no matter what I take with me, they say I have the wrong documents. Online ftw.

I'd do it online now to get it to start 1st Dec.

Then when it arrives probs thurs/fri, I'd stick it in the car and start driving..

Yeah I believe you can drive 4-5 days with old tax disc once new ones been ordered. Keep a receipt print out if you can.

Online is much better but with me getting an MOT same day I had no choice.

Yep, read the fine print on the site when I did mine, you can display your old tax disk for up to 5 days as long as the new tax disk has been purchased before the current has expired.
