anyone changed a dephaser pulley themselves?

after reading the manuals do i bring camshaft timing so that the timing marks are horizontal? how do i remove the cam pulley without the camshaft losing its timing position?
and how do i refit the new pulley in the same position the old one came off?

Dark pics but you can make it out just about.

I think he just means the cam pinion locking tool (85 quid Renault only), which is shown in the second picture above. Plus the cam timing tool shown in the first picture.

I've put new cams in mine. It is certainly doable for the competent home mechanic, I'm not a mechanic by trade just been playing with cars for as long as I've been driving them.

anyone know the part number for it?
do i need another cog to go with it 1509-01?

the dephaser pulley moves on the end of the camshaft to adjust the cam timing slightly to aid low down driving (under 1500rpm or so)

it moves when the solenoid on the top of the rocker cover activates and puts oil into the pulley

a.k.a - vvt

I did have the part numbers, I might be able to find them. IIRC there is an updated to 1809 or something to replace the 1509-01. I'll have a look at the numbers on mine.

think its mot 1801
not sure onb the other pieces to go with it.
