My first Mk3 - Ultra Red R27 with Akrapovic

Done a wee bit to it this week. Even though it handles brilliantly o still had to piss about with it cos that's who I am. So fitted some 200 cup shocks to the back to match the fronts and get rid of the worn out originals. Whilst I'm doing that and got the other top mount still to do it seems daft not to change the springs.

I love the look of them on the H&R 30/40mm but apparently they're crashy as f**k so having always liked Eibachs it was those I went for. Bizarrely they seem bigger than original

The top mount was just as much fun as the other one was

And I also finished taking off the door black sticker things and painted the diffuser.

It's only driven out the garage since so not a true reflection of height and I can offer no feedback on how it drives now!

Good choice with the rear dampers. Bet it will handle lovely, 200cup rack will complete it.

got to say I'm a sticker can though, looks naked without! That front bumper was why I never even considered it, I assumed it had been re sprayed and masked round the sticker but God knows what they have done now I've seen behind it!

Well the rear is f**king solid now! It's maybe a bit much on the road tbh but you can feel the potential on track. I think adjustable konis would be the best option but they seem difficult to get hold of.

Is the rack just quicker @Martin_172 ? If so I don't see me bothering, it won't actually change the speed it corners at!

The stickers were looking quite faded so thought fuckit, why not! Well, you can see why not. The sticker had paint on the back of it it's all very odd. But I do prefer it without. Just need to get the machine polisher on it, different shades and swirled to f**k

Aye 200 cup rack is shorter, mine turned in a lot better.

Aye I always thought my 200 cup was a bit much for the road I remember blasting down the road on the way to knockhill and it was skipping about everywhere

I've ruined this car.

The rear shocks will be awesome on track but having just done 190 miles over a variety of roads they've ruined it for me. Turn in etc is awesome but it doesn't ride well at all.

I'll buy some standard 197 ones and put them on when it's not track day season.

Is the picture blurry because you was still shaking after driving it?

Wee bit more done yesterday, nothing essential like replacing the clicking driveshaft or that, oh no, just tarty bits.

First thing was rear wiper removal, I know it'll make it a pain in the arse in winter and my wife will whinge every time she drives it but we'll see how it goes. To my eyes it looks better at least

And then it was time to paint the 1 brand new caliper it's got

I'm 36 and never painted a caliper red in my life until yesterday

And then decided that I don't like it ? so it's gone black. May go silver in time but black will do for now

Of course that didn't fix my problem of 1 caliper being a different colour to the other 3 did it? So decided to do the other rear one black too. And found this which wasn't there the day before

I put soapy water over it and didn't see any bubbles so as of yesterday it seems to be ok, somehow. Hope so, got its second track evening tonight.

So it's gone from

And yes, the wheels are still gubbed. But I want to get a few more essentials done before doing them. Like the driveshaft. And the gearbox. And the timing belt.

Fml.

f**k cars.

Braided line that's a few months old failed. Thankfully on the first lap when I was warming up, next lap I would've been doing 100 into a hairpin with 10 yards of run off.

Not having much luck with renaults atm are you? On the bright side it could of been a lot worse.

Dave and I have been discussing this and come up with a hypothesis.

The lines have always been fitted wrong but I've put wider tyres on and removed 20mm spacers bringing the tyre wall in by about 25mm which is why it was ok before and now is an issue.

So I'll be fitting the new ones with as much clearance as possible!

Not so much. Yeah if it had to happen not being on the road, not having the kids in the car and being on the slow warm up lap is as good as it could be. Next lap I would've been doing 100, not 60ish.

Can't remember the brand of hose, just that they were fitted second half of last year

Not good rubbing through a brake pipe, almost as bad as my last 5 GTT that rubbed a hole in the fuel line, right near the carburetor!
And before the grammar police arrive, what colour were you going to dye? ?

Looking at them they'll be a dick to change but I'm not the type to just leave an advisory like that so best get on with it

You can buy the ball joint separate from RSport iirc, you don’t have to go to the expense of buying the whole knuckle like some garages advise.

Be easier to change the whole arm instead of messing with removing the ball.

Depends on cost over hassle.

We've had quite a few arms go on customers cars recently. We change the complete arms tbh.
