As Sharky said, don't worry. We were all track noobs at some point, and you won't be the only first timers there that weekend. Everyone is courteous, as long as you remember to get out of the way of the faster guys t the straights you'll be fine.

very true, but we might be the faster guys ?

Same here mate, kinda shitting it for the track time? Partly because I dont want the blue gimp to blow up and partly because I dont know how slow or quick I can drive.

I was thinking of a magnetic L plate tbh??

You'll be alright mate, it's such an easy track to learn and there's plenty who can give pointers.
The standard of driving on track is pretty high too so you don't have to worry about bellends!

My doubts have been calmed a bit now?

Aye blyton is 3rd and 4th gear with a bit of 2nd near the pits if you fancy banging gears?

Is it worth stripping out the spare wheel, tools and rear seats or it will make basically no difference except upsetting the weight distribution of the car? Probably answered my own question lol.

I’d say definitely empty out what you can.

Not only will it make a weight difference you don’t really want any loose items flying around in the back of the car.

We can usually accommodate a few bits of property in the back of the support van while you’re out on track.

I did my first track day at the Cliosport owners club day in a fiesta ? a few years ago. I fully expected people to be out trying to prove a point but it was actually really relaxed. So expect this to be no different judging by the comments above. Awareness of others is the biggest thing I’ve found.

I run with no rear seats, no spare wheel or jack, i'm on cup shocks with Eibach Proline springs and the car handles perfectly, it is a little tail happy at times, but the answer to that is don't lift off in a corner and balance the car with the accelerator.

Great stuff thanks, I might ask to store the spare wheel plus some beer too then  or my tent might accommodate some stuff anyway.

I’m travelling down on semi slicks though so at least I don’t need to swap the wheels over.

Just come and speak to one of the team at the CS marquee and we will sort you out ?

Ah that’s good to hear thanks, I’ll prob do the same. I’m fitting new cup shocks at the weekend too.

It’s time the commuter car turned into a track beast

Make sure you get a front alignment after fitting new dampers mate. Its amazing how much difference alignment can make on track.

Solid engine mounts next then ;)

My mrs got in mine for 5 minutes, got out, said her head hurt and her fanny was tingling ? ?

I’ve just removed mine actually, I tried to convince myself the vibrations would be ok but it was slowly eating away at me!

Sounds like your mrs approves ? mine refuses to go in my Clio so I have to take the 1 series whenever we go out. Shame as the solid engine mounts would’ve served a purpose!

Cheers mate I’ve heard it’s well worth doing. The handling is good but I reckon it could be sharpened up a fair bit

Yeah that’s what I’ll probably end up doing too. Don’t want anything rattling round the car lol. I’m on in the afternoon as I’m heading down early on Sat, how about you?

Yep we'll be there for gates open on Friday to get a spec and set up. We'll be in the 'smokey' set up in the NW corner. ?

She said shes not coming in it because its loud and scary??

The megane I drive every day is just as quick but she thinks that because it doesn't make loud noises it's not as quick and therefore not as scary? Woman logic

Exactly the same for me mate!

Duxford was a great day. The camping after was such a laugh.

Then I became admin just before CS14 (the less said about Billing the better ?).

Then it was onwards and upwards from there!
Forgot about Duxford! I brought my daughter along to that event in the PB 182, going back further I came to the Gaydon event in 2011 in the white caged phase 1 ?

The pikey child fight was entertaining, the big kid picking on the little kid that wanted none of it, then the little kid snapped, picked the big kid up off his feet, body slamming him into the ground damn near knocking the big bully out cold, f*cking karma! Wish i'd got it on video. lol

It took like 2 hours to come. As said above. The camping after Duxford was brilliant, good gathering and some good food going about.
