Those seats came up brilliant!!! Let me know if you see any spare centre caps for sale. I got a set of initiale wheels for the van, but they came attached to this as part of the deal lol

Round 2 this afternoon. Massive thanks again to @mitch1503 who has spent hours helping me out!
New rear discs with correct 44 abs rings fitted along with brand new front discs and pads, and a full brake fluid flush.

1407903

Old front discs and pads looked really old but the pads looked like they hadnt bee worn at all. Strange as the braking was shocking! We also found one of the front caliper sider pins was completely siezed in place! Took some effort and a lot of heat but eventually it came out and was re-greased.
1407906

Old fluid was really dark.

Cambelt is the next job on the list...

No mate this isn't the one, but I know the one your talking about it was blue too. This one was £100, rusty back arches and 1.6 auto a heap of shite ??

Picked up the car mats from Renault earlier. Rather than putting them in the dci, i swapped them for the same set that are currently in the 182 which were pretty much brand new also anyway, but it made sense to put the new ones in the 182.

After the snapped spring incident this morning, I got straight on euro parts and ordered 2 new rears. I knew they needed changing anyway as there was about an inch snapped from the bottom of both of them so i wasnt disappointed and it actually spurred me on to sort them out.

The rears that came off were both different brands which probably hasnt helped. Bith dampers are KYB and working fine.

Looked like it was on lowering springs.

I usually try to not even think about how much the car has costed me so far.
It'll easily be around the £1500 mark I reckon, most of it was for parts I didn't even need !

oh well, still better than paying £1500 for an used car and then having to spend another 600 on it, from my point of view you still got a massive bargain !!

So true Diego!

Most of the above list would be something needed anyway on any car. So even if i had found one for 6-700, I would have still have spent almost the same as I have on this.

The only thing i might have got away with needing to do would be the key and barrel etc, plus the spare wheel which wasnt a necessity.

Oh your situation is waay different.

When I got Mine all it needed was an abs ring and a service, that was it.

then i decided to make into more of a drivers car (£360 clio, go figure..) and spent the best part of £500 doing it.

Add to that 4x oil services, cambelt, three sets of tires and bits and bobs that only a caar geek thinks he needs, and there you have it.

The new egr valve arrived today and i wanted to get it changed straight over and get the eml light off.

The old egr on the car was again covered in wet oil! The inside was more sutty, but still filled quite significantly considering it was just a few weeks ago when i cleaned it.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

I put the new egr in, which wasnt immaculate but it is 2nd hand and has just a slight coating of sutt in it. I have not turned the eml light off as hoping it will go out automatically? Took it out for 5 miles and it is still not. Not sure if it needs longer?

Oily egr could be a sign of a turbo beggining to fail, avoid driving too much until you know it will just burn all your oil away and could blow engine up

Thanks mate. How would you know if the turbo is starting to fail? What are the signs of that?

Could it make a difference that the egr valve was actually faulty? As in, it isnt just getting full of carbon / being oily thats the problem, the unit itself is broke as the eml light came back on even after cleaning it.

You may notice alot of smoke ,It could even be the seals on the egr or the turbo itself and is leaking, you can take pipes apart and see if you have excessive oil, you can expect a shiny film of oil but not alot

Surprised you didn’t just put a blank on the EGR. That’s what I’ll be doing.

I wouldn’t worry about the car smoking a bit either, they are getting on a little now.

How far have you been driving the car? If it’s short drives then it will get quite sooty. I put some fuel additive in every now and then.

Would rather just keep it standard. And would a blank now leave the eml light on permanently?

Yea, a bit of smoke doesnt worry me either. My old one did it and i had it a year. This does leave a little bit of white smoke if i boot it, can only tell when its dark though and theres headlights behind me.

I do almost 50 mile every day mate. All on the motorway too so it gets a good drive every day!

I turned the light off, have just gone back to the car and started it and the eml is back on! Argh! Could it be the 2nd hand egr is faulty!? Or is it something else!? The code is P2413 which indicates the egr valve itself, which is why i have changed it!

That’s strange, the annoying thing is - anything 2nd hand is hard to judge, it could well still be the issue. I’d probably take it back off, take the live off the battery too, give the EGR a good soak in petrol and make sure the valve is free moving, then stick a blank on and plug it back in.

The valve was moving freely as i checked that before putting it on. Massively annoying! I might have to buy another one, just to really rule out that this is a duff unit!

Been looking forward to this arriving as i really thought it would have solved the eml light!

Turbo seals are on their way with that much oil in the egr, keep an eye on it or could cost you an engine if it starts running away

To all those saying 'blank off the EGR'

It's not that simple on a K9K because its electronically actuated, you have to blank it off at the manifold and it's a pain in the arse to do if you've never done it before. @Austin-182 did you clean out the inlet and the J pipe?

Which is the inlet part lol??

J pipe i cleaned a few weeks ago and want that bad at all. That didnt have any wet oil in it and just a thin coating of carbon.

id whip that turbo off for a rebuild since you plan on keeping the motor.

on my DCi80 I just unplugged the EGR valve which blanks it, mine was running bluefin software and never brought on the light so im not sure if they disable it.

Does it just come out from the top? Know of any guides or videos anywhere?

I never touched the turbo on my 100 so never had to remove one, it should come out the top id imagine, its fairly easy on a dci 65/80 remove the airbox, egr housing gives you access to get it out the top. there will probably be guides online for 65/80 but its all reasonably similar

Comes out the top on a dci 65. Use a 6 sided socket on the nuts holding it to the manifold, as the bolts round off easy

I've got a spare 100 turbo. As @Brigsy said, use a 6 point because them 12mm nuts are little b******s.

The return is annoying to get to on the 100 as the turbo is substantially bigger than the 65/80. Still not that much of an arse to do

I’ve just had a quote of £370 to change the belt/water pump/ alternator belt and coolant. Not bad for a guaranteed job? ??‍♂️

Not too bad, but thats a £210 saving at least if you do it yourself. Are they using genuine Renault parts? And is the alt belt just a belt change or tensioner too?

Yup, it’s all gates items - and that’s everything replaced, tensioner etc.

I’m still tempted to just book a long weekend off work and give it a go. £370 is half the value of the car.. ?

Thats it mate. £210 that could be saved or spent on something else that needs doing.

Yup, it needs a couple of bits, which I’ve priced up..£88; discs/pads and 2 front springs ?
So I could do the whole car for less than a cambelt change cost
