Suspension back on, driveshafts on, brake discs and callipers removes ready for new discs and pads tomorrow. Fitted air filter after being sent the wrong size twice.

I've never noticed gearbox oil smelling any different to normal oil tbh? And I've removed 40 year old s**t out of an old triumph

Went around the car and cavity waxed everything front to back. Probably a over kill but these cars rust inside out. Once done I don’t have to worry about it.

Same, I have done many gearbox oil changes and to me it smells the same as normal oil. Wonder if its the same phenomenon where Coriander tastes and smells completely different to other people etc

The bolt holding that mount in place, worth replacing with high tensile.

My old VTR went through 2-3 quite fast, I did drive it like bit of a tit at 17 though.

  Ph2 172, 106 Rallye
Mine snapped the actual casting, cam gears fell back onto the broken mount and snapped the belt and belt every valve. Again, I drove like a tit when I was 18 lol.

Are they the standard nankank tyres?

Re looked. Thought we had all come to the same conclusion being awful?

Sadly the NS2Rs weren't available when I ordered. Only other option was the Eagle F1s. I have another set of VTS alloys that I'm going to refurb, if I can get hold of the Rs I will fit those, if not the Eagles. Car is dry use only and not going to be spanked around within a inch of it's life, they will be sufficient for the time being. I'm not mega happy, not going to deny that as all my other cars run PS3s, PSS, and PS4S but it is what it is.

Ahhh, I was only 180deg out then lol. I've just taken delivery of a full set of Michelin PS4s for my TT, they are going on this weekend.

You won't be disappointed! Used PSS on my M5 which where amazing, switched the rears to PS4S and again another league ahead on the PSS, amazing in the wet.

Bit of a c**t tho morning trying to do this on the floor, here goes.

So it’s fairly obvious that that side skirt design is s**t. Yes it’s great that they remove a piece of the side skirt so you can jack from the correct points without damaging the side skirts however. As you can see from the pic below there is a open gap which allows all the road s**t flicked up from the front wheels to travel down the inner skirt and sit up against the sill.

Not good, I got away with it but many won’t even know how bad this can get.

Pic of front jacking points before work.

You can see it's peppered in some places but that's a pretty clean car all things considered. Nice work

It’s all surface, I could put more pressure on the grinder and remove every bit, have to be careful as the metal on these is thin.

I have seen loads and also been sent pics from other owners of the same areas, horrific describes them well. Most wouldn’t even do what I have done, it’s not 100% perfect but it will go the distance.

sorry if its been covered but what did you use on the boot floor? I used Deox then Hydrate 80 on my rallye but the rusts starting to appear again.

Deox gel, Hydrate 80 than Dinitrol stone chip.

Didn’t have much rust so hoping nothing will reappear.

Sorted a few bits today, swapped over the boot central locking box from the VTR, fitted the new fuel filter strap, removed and cleaned up the pump float as fuel gauge was not working. Gave her a quick bath and treated all plastics.

Wheel alignment Tuesday.
