Saw the new owner on fb questioning a gear box whine? He LOVES it tho (the car)
I've spoke to the new owner about it, basically confirming it was fine when i had it, and its a cracking car, hes got it booked in for a gearbox oil change, hoping this will resolve the problem.

Was looking at a type r thread last night, then noticed ot was yours! Greedy b*****d lol, I only skimmed through it, what powers the r26 now? I may have a 2/3k to spend on a (cheap) run about, debating a type r/clio

Ha, its my old car so my brother goes halves on it with me now as I wanted a change but had already done loads to it so made sense to keep it as a track/ring car! Good thing we go halves cos mods and stuff are really expensive on the R, but they're brilliant cars. No faster than a 1*2 though but nicer to drive and more room.

Megane is all polybushed now, uprated pads, springs etc. Pretty much identical to your old one! Mines capped at 300lb/ft though and having my new wheels fitted tomorrow after work

If you want any pointers on a ctr i don't mind, had mine 7 years I think now

Sounds good, i keep meaning to read your thread and @imprezaworks, ( not sure i could keep up with his car threads though) What wheels you putting on?

So hows the ctr handle compared the r26? My mate went out in an evo on a trackday, and they could not keep with a ctr on slicks.

I will rattle your brain should i go ctr, wont be till near winter time though [emoji106]

Out of the box I'll be honest, the honda is shite in comparison to the renaults. But once you put decent tyres and a frsu (fast road setup with camber arms etc) Its brilliant. Lacks the lsd like the megane has but its great to have high revving n/a to find grip with the throttle.

Ive always read about the numb steering, i may go Clio, but never tried a ctr so very tempted, and there not mega bucks either, fancy a change, if its s**t I'll sell it lol.

Oh yeah the steering is bloody awful. Takes some getting used to. Ive had all sorts done to mine to make it better but still notchy. Defo the worst part of the car, but the engine and box make up for it in spades

So time to update!

Got a message this morning off a nice chap from France, asking if this was my car old advertised on ebay

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2007-57-...RS-TUNING-STG-2-RESERVED-197-200/192788906242

Sure enough it is, the guy ( sorry didn’t get your name ) travelled from France to purchase it, went on a test drive 2nd gear 4500rpm, and the engine went bang! He thinks it’s done a rod....

So he went home 600 miles later with nothing, fortunately it went bang before he purchased it.

Decided to message the dealer asking if the car was sold response was “the guy who was coming from France to buy the car never turned up, so it’s still available, but I’m away at the minute and will get in contact when I’m back if your interested”

Bullshit.

Surely he's just going to chuck a spare bottom end in that and be away with it

Are the engines not that strong then when pushing 300 BHP or is it the Torque that does the rods ?
Can of worms. 300 lb ft is considered the 'safe' limit of stock engines. But all depends on how well looked after the engine is, how well it's mapped, injector reliability, driving style, blah blah. Pot luck

So the same for any 10 yr old car then .

Hi there,

I'm the french guy in question. I was quite lucky for sure the car died during my test drive...

Just to ad more information, I messaged the seller after Bill told me he said I never showed up. I felt very sorry for him when it happened so when I learnt he wasnt telling the truth about the engine and said I never showed up while I lost my day and 600 miles to see this car I was really angry.

He answered me and was really pissed of. He accused me of bad driving and said I downshifted from 3rd to 2rd at high revs. He said I was lucky he let me left without asking me nothing. As I was pulling away from a red-light, I didn't even had the time to put the 3rd, the engine died after I put the 2rd and then decided to accelerate.

if I would have really messed up with the car, there is no way he would have let me leave like that, and I wouldn't have of course.

I truly think he wasn't paying attention and he is probably sure of what he says. After I left he may have ruminated and believed the only scenario is that I messed up rather than the engine ahd a weak...

Btw I hope everything is understandable, not that easy to express his thoughts through another language
