Fitted an Alpine DAB head unit in my 200 just two weeks after buying it.

Installed locally, with a small DAB aerial stuck on the inside of the windscreen.

The CDE alpine is slightly dearer than they one Goodj linked because it has a cd player. If you don't use cds go for the other one, it's shorter so will be easier to stuff all the wires in behind it and the savings can go towards a link cable so you can use the cars oem steering radio controls and display.

Probably should mention that it has full Bluetooth hands free capabilities.

Does it have that thing that makes the volume go up and down when your speed/noise increases?

  Listerine & Poledo
It'll be linked to a speed sensor that wouldn't be part of the usual ISO loom.

But that stereo doesn't appear to support it anyway

I'll be going for this when I get back in a Clio, it's DAB and Bluetooth as you can so will be perfect with the new laws that come in.

I've just fitted a kenwood dab to the other halfs car. It's a really good unit however the BT connectivity can be a bit hit and miss with it

I paired more than one phone and it's forgotten both of them. I'll need to mess about with it more. Apart from that it's superb. I went for the cd one 700dab. Got it for £118 delivered which was the cheapest I could find

does it lose any other settings? Just in case its a problem with positive and switched-power inputs.

Nah man it's really good apart from that. I've maybe messed with the settings too much. Install is fairly straight forward too. Depends how easy your A pillars come off! Only thing I don't like is that you can't change the colour of the text/buttons to match your dash but it still looks good

I'm in the market, but want something that looks pretty subtle so I'm thinking this one

A previous owner fitted a slightly chav looking Pioneer FM jobby.
The radio reception is absolutely pitiful. We live in a poor signal area but the other 3 cars we have all pick up the usual range of FM and / or DAB stations. The Pioneer can only pick-up our local FM station, so it's got to go.
If anyone wants to try it in their car they can have it when it's removed for just the cost of postage.

But if you want the full on oem look surely is money well wasted?
If they want OEM look, they can deal with OEM functionality then.
I'm sure I've got an old 6210 car kit about, with the external aerial. That'll fix them up to be legal.
And just be sure to reload the 6-disc swapper every now and again.

Becker, they were the go-to.
But I suspect theyre not making them now so it'll be an eBay lucky dip.
Alternatively, any of the Alpine range that shut their screens down when you're not tinkering on them is the closest I can think.
But it's still not the OEM that OP is looking for

What's the deal with these? Seem too good to be true for the price. All singing all dancing DVD, Bluetooth, apps blah blah for less than £200
The button colours can be changed to suit the car lights too.

Pay £170 and receive a cardboard cut out with wires taped to the back?

The chinese Windows CE / Android double DIN units are woeful.
Just Duct-tape a cheap tablet to your dash and run it to an AUX-in, pretty much the same effect.

Had a shitty unbranded Chinese double din with DVD etc in the van. It's somewhere down the M4 now. True story. F****d me off mentally and I pulled it out and launched it out the passenger window. Always froze, wouldn't read discs, maps wouldn't work, BT was poor connectivity.
