Number 1 cylinder is the gearbox end on a Renault.
I`m not sure if Snap On reader recognises this?

Sorry, I have things to do today.
Destructive misfire usually ( that`s USUALLY) indicates an injector problem.
If you can get it plugged into CLIP, Renault`s own diagnostics system before spending money on any parts would be my advice.
You could try moving the injectors around to confirm the fault code follows the injector.
Is your 172 PhASE 1 (cable throttle) or PhASE 2 with fly by wire throttle?

Most of these threads seem to go down this road.

Injectors are under the metal cover with the 3 holes in it on the front of the engine.10mm deep socket required.

Steve m thanks for the reply and the image aswell I need a CLIP machine if I took it Renault they will charge me up the ar*e. And how sure are you it's the injectors thats playing up and not my coil pack tbh I need someone in London area that loves these 182s or knows why they keep playing up. Today no EML flashing but it's intermittent I just don't get this injector or coil pack malarky

People aren't just going to come and do it for you I'm afraid mate, that's what garages are for and excuse me if I'm misunderstanding but it almost seems like you've signed up to get someone to come and fix the issue for you FOC.

Harsh words? He`s been here since May.

Typhoon Mate free of charge you having a laugh have you once seen me ask anyone to come and fix this . I been going to garages and they have no idea I been reading the forum for a while and noticed people have similar issues. I've read the prior post and no 1 has actually cured the issue.

I `d spend a few hours on You Tube looking at the how to vids. Swapping injectors around will cost you nothing.
No good guessing at coil pack, could just as easily be plugs, leads etc.
Think @M90SR had that fault code & it was injectors.

You keep saying in London etc. The club is worldwide, plenty of knowledgeable folk on here. Have you swapped injectors about as advised? Take it to a RenaultSport specialist near you. They'll a) have CLIP & b) be able to fix it.

Okay mate thanks for your reply the reason I keep mentioning London is coz I don't know no Renault sport specialists that's why I'm asking if there are anyone around here that know about this issue here I went to Renault and they was talking about doing a water ingress test as they think it was a ecu problem tbh mate I feel hostility from you typhoon. What's that all about.

It did come across that way a little mate! Everyones here to help on the forum, but there's only so much diagnostics you can do over the internet. I'd get the injector swapped over first and see if the problem follows, if not then look at changing the coil pack/leads. Fair enough you can send them back if they aren't the problem but you'll spend more time doing that than taking it to a specialist.

There's no hostility mate, it's just there was another thread a few weeks back with someone demanding help with capitals etc before introducing themselves in the first place. Replace the things you feel comfortable with first, then keep going. Injectors/coils etc aren't too challenging.

Steve m I have changed the leads , plugs not done the coil pack came on this site and realised it's either a coil pack or injector. I can change the coil pack myself but as for the Injector I didn't know whether to do it myslef or not and just wanted some clarity into if it's a mission to do or not. Most the mechanics I have had bad experiences with London Renault said I have to wait a month for a appointment so that's why I'm tryin to figure this out my self. I looked @M90SR and can't seem to find nothing about a 182 issue with a misfire .

Thanks Louis sorry to come across like I wanted FOC help. I've just brought the 182 a few weeks ago and it's playing up ppl mention when it's cold or wet it happens to their car. Reading the posts of others I just thought of asking if anyone's in London as they could point me in the right direction. I know diagnosing over the internet is a mission hence I'm asking if anyone is from London. I will look at tryin to swap over the injectors and see if this changes as for the coil pack do you know of any way to check if it's working without the specialist tools that would be required.

I'm not sure if there is a way to actually 'test it' so to speak, but i'm not the best person to be asking. If you swapped it out, and it still misfired then your problem isn't that. Do you know what sort of fuel has been in the car too? As supermarket fuel can lead to problems albeit probably not to this magnitude.

So what fuel do you put in your car v power ??? I need to change the pack and check the injectors .

I think I am correct in saying there is no London RS specialist, so I can understand his dilemma.
Rentech in Hants would seem to be closest to London.
OP is probably correct in that Renault main dealers will take him to the cleaners though.

Keeping a 14 year old high performance hatch on song will mean ongoing expenditure, but not as much as the instant depreciation as you drive your brand new ST220 off the forecourt.

I'm London and I'm more than happy to drive all the way to Nottingham for Mick as I know it's a fair price for the knowledge and care he uses. I do understand the main dealers pulling your pants down however.

Mick`s my 1st port of call for anything I don`t want to attempt myself.
