July Meet

Ok so here is what I have been thinking for what we should do on the day:
  1. We all meet somewhere for a bit, that is convenient and en route to next location. This allows us to all get together before we drive out.
  2. Drive out to a "nice" location for pictures and food, enjoy the cars and the scenery and hopefully via some good driving roads.
  3. (Maybe another location to go to after this one, not sure)
  4. Everyone goes their own ways home OR go back to where we met and then home.
Anything anyone wants to add or change to that? Can people suggest times and locations. My knowledge of where to go is limited. Had a look at Oliver's Mount, there's an event on 24th July there "Olivers Mount Barry Sheene Festival Powered by Suzuki" Dont know if anyone would be interested in going over that way and having a gander at whats going on. Also had a look at Butter Tubs, which is a scenic road AFAIK, which could be quite nice to head over for pictures and the roads over that way. Also not sure if these locations are a bit too out of the way for some people or would lead to us being out for a ridiculous amount of time.

RIGHT! I have something in the works! Thanks to @Turbo steve for suggesting The Carding Shed in Hepworth because it looks like an absolute cracking place to stop on our drive.
What I had in mind was meeting at our pre-decided location which is en route to The Carding Shed, I'm having trouble picking somewhere suitable at the minute as I don't know where everyone is coming from. HELP

After this we can drive to our 1st location where we could stop for something to eat and drink as well as enjoy each others company at the Oil Can Cafe, also they have a display of classic cars which is up-kept by I.K. Classics and would be great to have a look around > http://thecardingshed.co.uk/gallery/
The Carding Shed's opening times are 10am - 4pm so we will have to keep this in mind. I was thinking to get there maybe around lunch time. Sometime between 12 and 1.

After we are done there we could go out and "enjoy driving on a network of unspoilt roads, which remain largely unchanged from the days when classic cars were built".
Now from here I have 2 alternative plans as of right now, which simply vary in driving time and distance.

1. We drive from the The Carding Shed to Holmfirth along this route: 46.3 Miles and aprx. 1h 27min long. (Google Maps) I do appreciate that for some this will be a lot of driving in one day therefore I have devised a 2nd route which is shorter which you can find below.

2. This route starts and ends in the same places but instead is about 19 miles taking us approx 40 mins. (Google Maps).

Both routes are fantastic and allow us to enjoy some breathtaking roads. The longer route allows for more pic opportunities in varying surroundings but is very long and includes going through a couple of small towns and villages which could cause issues. Honestly, I think it would probably be wiser to take the shorter route and I encourage you to use the Google Map links provided to see what roads we will be driving on (especially the A6024 )

My final thought was to find somewhere to stop in Holmfirth in order to have a final chat/farewell before everyone heading on their way back home.
I need all the help I can get in planning this so if you have any suggestions or edits regarding anything please do say!

Thanks

An all dayer might be pushing it a bit. Meet up, drive to the cafe then maybe a quick blast into the sticks for some pics then home. If its a decent run we can make it a regular thing.
Yeah was thinking that when writing this up. Just wanted to leave the option for it open because everyone else would know what the best option is. Any ideas for a meet up location befor heading over to the cafe because im struggling with that.

Atm i don't know where that cafe is. I'll get on my pc tomorrow and have a look. Meeting somewhere near a main route would be best so we can all get there quickish thwn enjoy the quieter roads together.

I'm not sure the Carding Shed is right for us. http://thecardingshed.co.uk/gallery/
We could meet at the Yorkshire sculpture park as it's just off the M1 and then head upto the Emley moor TV mast for some pics and then out into the sticks. Finding a pub or cafe to stop at might be harder.
Lets do that then. Providing others agree we should, then Its a good plan. Guess we just need to find a pub or cafe to stop at. What do you think about any of those places in the pic ive added?

I'd be up for this if I'm chipper enough after York races the day before.
If someone wants to take the brand new pollen filter off me that doesn't fit in my Cup they'd be more than welcome to it.

The only problem with the sculpture park is you have to pay to park and it will be rammed on a Sunday. Leave it with me a bit going to have a think

The old post office pub is only 2 mins down the road from the sculpture park, thats an option, used to hold the yorkshire meets there.

Ok, J36 onto A616 there is a shell garage and a pub and a McDonald's...... We could meet there pub car park and go from there
A616 onto A628(wood head) then onto the A6024 then drop down into Holmfirth, then onto the A635 on that road there is a nice pub with a large car park to stop for food

And is this the pub you're talking about? The Crossroads Inn?

Yes that's the one, the road if you carry on is a nice long road
Cool  I like this route so I think we should do this. We can decide on the day whether we want to continue along A635. Any ideas for a time to meet at McDonalds area? Don't want it to be too early or too late for people if you understand what I mean. Was thinking sometime between 11am and 1pm?
