it was all very cheap as i build race engines for a job it was only parts only about £150 as i get heavy discount so not reali much of a waste :/ and not sure about block tbh probaly leave it tbh..

Who do you work for then?
Not anywhere very good I assume TBH if you couldnt look at a 1.2 manifold gasket and a 2.0 one and spot the difference, LMAO

  Renault Clio
connaught competition engines they build/rebuild many BDGs JUDs but they let me do my lil project on the side when not working

I assume you are pretty junior there?

No offence, but you dont exactly sound like an experienced builder TBH

Cool way to learn practicing on your own car, who mapped it?

  Renault Clio
ow yer defo im only 19 lol been there for about 6 months and learning all the time and thats alot of why im going it tbh best way to learn imo doing it hands on.. plus i just cant gewt insured on anything above 1.4 soo yer lol

Well although the end result is still going to be a slow car, its as good a way to learn as any other engine TBH.

Did you do the porting yourself or did one of the lads at connaught do that for you?

What cam have you used?

surprised you didn't get an insurance hike with those modz.

At least it wasn't a vast amount of wasted money

  Renault Clio
i was showed step by step of the more complex things but did most of it myself and the porting is of course done by a machine that i was shown how to set up and usei did most of the ports myself

I wont lie, I'd love to have even a remote amount of mechanical knowledge.

If I could port, balance, flow, bore, strengthen and all that other stuff to engines, I'd probably never have sold the MX-3

  182/RS2/ Turbo/Mk1
Ah I assumed you would have hand ported it due to the nature of what you are doing, cool getting to play with some proper machines though :)

What cams did you use? and who mapped it for you?

  Renault Clio
piper cam and the company mapped it for me thats why i want to reali have it mapped on a rolling road but its alot of money

When you say "the company mapped it for me" do you mean connaught did?
What equipment did they use to do that as I thought they dealt with mainly older stuff TBH (like the cool warrior pinto heads they do for a lot of the rally boys who are too stupid to use an XE instead, lol). You actually need some quite specific equipment to do the more modern stuff.

  182/RS2/ Turbo/Mk1
Not people to do with me mate, just I know that a lot of the mk2 escorts out there have connaught prepped warrior head pintos in them, but im only a spectator I dont rally myself, closest ive come is that ive mapped some rally cars.

  182/RS2/ Turbo/Mk1
Actually you or one of the others who work there might no one of the lads who cars Ive mapped, Carl Sorrenson, from sorrenson road sport, he has an ex group a 106 cup that is now on bodies, as I know he does a lot with ford rally cars, so you probably share customers for who you guys have done the engine and he has supplied or fitted brakes or suspension etc.

ahh i see cool cool id love to learn i bit about proper mapping lol as you know it doesnt happen very often here, its all ignition timing carbs jets ratios ect lol

Cool skills to have still though, but only really useful in historic motorsport these days, thankfully shitty old carbs are long gone on road cars!
