Rear drums to disks 172 conversion

Ok I have had a 172 conversion so up front is all 172.
My question is:

Is it worth me changing the brakes on the back to disks?

Option 1
Change the beam. But which one would match for ABS rings?

Option 2
I know the beam is stiffer, so is there any way to keep drums but make the beam stiffer?? Keep my stealth look

P.S Im to understand the back brakes don’t do much though

Discs over drums won't make a massive difference unless tracking or hard extended use.

Swap the beam imo

There isn't really no point imo however you will need a 172 rear axle and i think its a pretty much straight swap, ritz on here has done it i think if you want detailed advice

Only reason I would get it over drums would be for looks, but IMO keep the drums for the stealthy look :)

keep the drums, dont bother pissing around looking for a beam and fitting it.

does the stiffer beam improve handing much.
I guess if its stiffer it will lessen understear as the back will step out faster.

but can always put more psi in the back tires an less in the front

since hes thinking of either keeping or swapping, is there stronger shoes for the rear drums you can purchase?

You'll have to ditch the ABS I think. Or use a 172 ABS ECU and pump.

**Im not even sure that would work though.

Mabey a nice set of bucket seats?

Any suggestions for fixed?Have to be really comfy as I do a few miles a week :)

The car I bought was a 1.2 and is now a 182 conversion - rear beam included. No ABS or ***** aids though. Not sure how he done it or any of that guff - just it's there, it works and I'm happy.

Ok, I can get a Cup rear beam an brakes.
Questions:

Will this bolt strait on?
Having no ABS on it, will it effect the front brakes that do have ABS?
Is it a hard job to change them over?

Is it worth my time for the small gains I might get?

P.S Im gettin the rear beam for cheap cheap aswell

You might get a warnign light come up if you don't plug the abs sensors in..

I see no reason it won't fit, tbh.

Are you still running the 1.2 abs?

If you stick a cup beam on, the abs won't work on the front. If you stick a 172 abs beam on it still won't work with the 1.2 pump and sensors.

if you want abs, you have to change to all the running gear to 1*2 and get a 1*2 pump, so all the abs rings and sensors match.

Personally, i'd ditch the abs, wack a cup beam on and get a bias valve in there.

Il av to give Ktec a ring see what ABS pump they put on.
The front are 1*2 brakes and the Abs works with the drums. Would think so long as the teeth on the ABS rings match doesnt matter. just thinking coz the Cup Beam has no ABS that all

Ok phoned the bods at KTec

The Answer:

Any 172 - 182 beam will fit.

To get them to work I will need to match the ABS Rings on the back to the front.

The ABS rings are £20 a side from Stealers

To be frank, way to much work for such a little gain.
