o2 upgrade - new phone without contract?

Have done a search (doesn't really help you can't just search "o2" ).

Basically, I am due an upgrade. I don't want to be tied into another contract for 18 months, as I'm planning on leaving the country in the next 12 months.

o2 do a simplicity tariff, basically it's a sim only tariff, and you get 600 mins and unlimited texts for £20. It's a 30 day contract, so you're only tied in for 30 days, after 30 days are up it's renewed for another 30 days and so on.
I'm going to go with this unless there is anyway I can get a new phone without signing up for 18 months? I doubt it though lol.
