Magic mouse tracking speed

Just got a magic mouse to use with my MBP Retina, I'd been using an optical wireless mouse before.

The tracking speed is awfully slow, so I got MagicPrefs, and also got MouseZoom, and both on full is still quite slow - so I'm guessing I have an issue somewhere? I've gone into Terminal and used a command to increase the mouse speed beyond the maximum of 9 set by MagicPrefs, I set it to 20, still no difference.

Could it be bluetooth holding me back? Anyone experienced similar?

Also, the precision seems s**t; when you're making small movements it's really irritating.
