Insurance related question after an accident - advice please

  Volvo S40
Hi All,

I'm after some advice in relation to an accident.

I had a minor bump in a leased car back in January - my fault, a lapse in concentration for a moment and I ran into the back of somebody at ~10mph.
The van I hit was a construction company van. It took a while for the claim to go through - the excess was taken from me last month so I assumed it was all done and dusted. However I've now received a letter from a solicitor instructed on behalf of the construction company to "recover damages arising from the accident". Looking at the invoices they have attached as support, these "damages" amount to nearly £400 in hire charges for a replacement vehicle presumably while the van being repaired.

Where do I stand in terms of this? Would I be personally liable to cover that cost? I would have assumed they would have pursued my insurance company for it instead. Anyone got any thoughts?

Many thanks in advance.
