Aux belt....when cambelt done?

Hi

I am having the cambelt/tensioners and water pump done tomorrrow on my Clio 172. I have an aux belt which I am going to fit Saturday but is it worth giving it to the garage to fit as I understand they have to take it off in the first place to get to cambelt...?

Cheers
Rob

The cambelt is well over due tbh, it should have been at 5 years (it's five years or 72k, yours was up on the age of it). Yep get the whole lot done.

doing a nice service sat including pollen filter, gear oil, spark plugs (Bosch super 4) engien oil (Halfords 5w40) which is fine for road use. I am going to put 4 ltrs of engine flush oil in to start as I think it missed a service at 60k - not great on such a performance engine

not sure....sounds like these cars need to be looked after - afterall a 2.0 engine which puts out around 30/40 bhp over a typical 2.0 engine is probably slightly too higher strung to avoid services

Check your service history, pretty sure this will be the second time round for having it done, all irrelevant to your question anyways lol.. yeh just give it to them to do, they need to take it off anyway to get to the camblet so in effect shouldn't charge you any extra, if they ask for anything more than an extra £20 then tell them you'll get it serviced else where!

Spend a few extra pounds and go ngk pfr6e-10 (ngk r platinum), they are the oem plugs and seem to work the best.

I work for them....no chance of ripping me off - only get charged £15 per hr!! (normal £60 p/h!)

Renault would charge around £800 for belt, tensioners and water pump...

I specialist garge would charge £450-£500 I guess

LOL!!!!!!! Renault would be quite a bit more than tht for the water pump too. I've heard of them trying to charge an EXTRA £300 for doing the aux belt at the same time as the cambelt
