JDM's 182 Titanium Project Daily

After owning a non sport Clio 1.2 and been on this forum for a few years, I now have a 182! Purchased the car a few weeks ago, it had a couple of problems so got the garage down on price. Some pics of if after a quick clean:

So the problems that are currently occurring:
- exhaust has broken in the middle and the mounts have fallen to pieces, hopefully have this sorted soon, as it's making a huge exhaust noise and everyone is starring at the car!
- the alloys are in an awful state, had a lady owner for the past 9 years and only two owners since new including her.
- splitter is missing.
- lots of little dents in imperfections, two noticeable in the bonnet.
- one headlight desperately needs restoring!

I'd like to do some other things including new plates (3/4 on the front), some new alloys, probably get a Skoda splitter and lots of other little things to tidy it up.

So I will be updating this thread with all the progress I make.

So today I got the exhaust done, went for a custom one from TopGear in Watfod, great service and a great product! I asked for it not to be too loud, wanted a full stainless-steel system but nothing ridiculous. Really happy with the result, sounds great and I chose the big pipes to fit the gaps perfectly. It's got a lifetime warranty and about three mounts on each back box, much better than standard! Anyway some pics:

Having a look at the old system.

The new one fitted, I think it sits well.

And a beading shot on the way home, I've never detailed the car and a bit of a novice with this, but I was happy with the result:

Thanks for looking!

Looks great mate, very similar to mine. Good work on getting the exhaust sorted. Maybe a snappy steering wheel for the interior and the wheels refurbed? Titanium is such a great colour!

Cheers Darren. Yeah the thumb grips are melted so a snappy steering wheel would be great. Refurb on the wheels is also on the list. Just spent out on the exhaust so those may have to wait a couple of months for these mods haha. Got the headlight restoration kit today so hopefully get that done over the weekend. Your car looks great btw!

Looks like a great base to start with. Fabia splitter will set it off a treat though

Cheers Dan, yeah it's a bit tatty but a good base to start on. I liked that because I could do some work myself on the car. Fabia splitter was on the list too, they seem pretty cheap to pick up so I'm hoping I'll get that on soon! Again your car looks mint! Are you in high Wycombe or Leeds?

Yeah I think they are £11 or so. Nice and disposable too when you take it off hitting a kerb haha.

Thanks mate yeah I'm in Leeds but picked up the beast from high whycombe

That's a good idea to be fair, did you get yours from the dealer or online? Ahh fair enough, I'm in Aylesbury just down the road from high Wycombe haha

I rang up my local skoda place and ordered it then picked it up a few days later. Turned out to be a bit cheaper than online.

Ahh that's cool mate, it's a lovely little place. I was so jealous of an awesome looking ale bar across the road from the station but obviously I couldn't drink haha

So restored the headlight a few days ago, the results not too bad. Might have another go over it in the future. I think because the passenger side headlight is new it shows up the condition of the drivers side. Anyway some pics:

Currently in talks with a member on here to by some team dynamics pro race 1.2, will update the thread if that goes through.

Thanks for looking, Jamie

So picked up some team dynamics off a member on here, cheers to Tom, his BG182 looked great. Some pics: (sorry for the crap driveway photos)

Think they look great against the titanium paint! Car looks like it's sitting a little higher than usual, will probably drop again once the suspension has settled back in. Progress will probably slow for a while now, funds are getting low until payday.

Thanks for looking, C&C welcome.

Take some more :D Haha come to leeds to get them done ;)

Ordered the tyres they should be here fairly soon so maybe in a weeks time. I resent paying for fitting and balancing though, the garage near me does it for free but their machine is old and can scratch the rim :/ but then it's £12 a wheel elsewhere. ughhhh

Yeah paying to have them fitted is a pain, definitely don't want them scratched though! What tires did you go for, also are yours 15s or 16s?

Yeah tell me about it. I went for uniroyal rainsport 3's as they are £32 a tyre so a hefty saving, pilot sport 3's were £48.

Mine are 15's yours are the same right?

Ahh hair enough, no mine are 16s wrapped in hankooks, although the rear two will need replacing soon. Will probably replace them with the same tyres if i can.

They look much smaller! Think it's because of the black on black. Look fantastic though, might be biased haha 🙈

Closer up picture.
Yeah I love the team dynamics, wanted them for a while, we're both biased I guess haha. I need new bolts and to freshen up the brakes!

So got some photos today with my mate, he's got the seat Ibiza. So some pics:

And a video of the exhaust system:

Personally love the sound, what's people's thoughts?

Future plans are little ones, like silver visions, Fabia splitter and I don't have a parcel shelf at the moment haha.

Thanks for looking, C&C welcome.

I've been on the forum for a couple of years now and it came to renewing, because I've got this new car without the sticker I opted for the welcome pack.

Got the sticker on, it's nearly perfect, very slightly wonky up close compared to the heater filaments but it'll have to do haha. On the cards next is the Scoda splitter and silver visions. Hopefully in the next month to get the suspension done and new clean plates with 3/4 on the front.

Thanks for looking, C&C welcome.

So today I spent the whole day prepping the car for Trax! Got some additions: new plates, splitter and silvervisions. Some photos:

Great to meet Anthony and Gus at Trax today, both cars looked very good. Got some photos from the day:

Received a new set of discs and pads for the front and back. Decided on a Bosch set since it's just a daily car and didn't really need anything upgraded. Will update the thread once I've got the time to fit them. Also want to do a full service soon, change the gearbox oil and get a new set of rubber for the back two wheels, which are getting low(Thinking of Michelins because I've heard they last well and I do a lot of miles, any advice on this would be good?). Thanks for looking.

Little while since I've updated this thread. Nothing exciting happened for a while, accept a service and new disks and pads on the front. Got the disks for the back without the bearings, so need to get them pushed in. Recommendation for other people is to get the original Renault rear disks as they come with everything you need! Pic of the car during the disk change, with the back up as I discovered I had half the kit I needed:

Then I got some goodies:

c2a6aaba68df10043b13c421478c9510.jpg

New eibach sportlines and oe cup shocks!
Fitted on the car (sorry for the bad car park pic, haven't had time to get some good ones):

I love how it sits now and drives very well! I'm sure once they're settled a bit it could drop a little more. Then this weekend I gave it a good clean as I do most weekends:
3223f61b870faf5fc7ac0e911154de34.jpg

Got some new tire shine from carbon collective called Sateen. Worked a treat and works well on the plastic trim! Let's see how it lasts the test of time:

Another job I've done recently is clean the throttle body as it was playing up. Was restricting and lowing revs, made it undeliverable. Quick clean later and everything seems to be fine. Been loving the car on the B roads this sunny weekend!

Future plans are to get the rear disks and pads done and belts for peace of mind! C&C welcome

Stunning mate, realised it's missing the black bumper inserts, makes a massive difference for less than a fiver.

I'd recommend getting some wheel nut covers too, very cheap on the bay of eeeeeeeeee's!

Cheers Dan! Yeah saw your bumper inserts on your thread, looks good may have to have a look. Also for the wheel nut covers can you get them for locking wheel nuts? I was looking before but couldn't find any.

There's a guy on here that does them. I want to call him Alan but it's not Alan.

I couldn't find any :( So took my locking wheel nuts off but don't tell anyone

Oh right! Haha that's fair enough, I might just cover the three normal ones and leave the locking nuts. They are 19mm nuts on these aren't they?
