2010 MBP Downloading issue

I received my 2010 MBP today (my first apple computer) and when I searched for software updates there were 5, so I started the download and left it. I came back to find it stuck on 723.1MB (out of 1.28GB). It's been stuck on there for a good few minutes and I'm wondering will I have to start all over again with the download or just leave it and see will it continue?

P.s my connection is awful and it took me around 3/4 hours to download 723MB hence me not wanting to do it again.

The time remaining seems to have gone nuts too.

Any ideas?

I wanted to do that at the start but thought if I do it in one big go and leave it for a while it would be easier. It's randomly just started again, quicker than before too. Which is still slow compared to everyone else's speeds.
