I'm not sure if this is me being paranoid or if there's a genuine issue, but if I accelerate hard in 1st gear there's a vibrating/grind noise coming from the front which I can just about feel through the steering wheel. The noise isn't loud but can be heard and felt easy enough.
It's not axel...
My ph2 has recently clicked over 112k, I bought it on 105k and the only issue I've had was the timing belt skipping but I'm putting that down to a s**t tensioner/belt that was fitted previously
barely uses any oil either, doubt it's had an easy life too.
Id trust it to get me anywhere
Is the car on a ramp?
If so, try and wedge a crow bar in the slot where the pinch bolt goes through to open it up a tad, then spread some copper slip all over the inside of the hole and the balljoint itself
they are ment to be tight, and it can be a b*****d to do sometimes. Just gotta be...
Mine does this sometimes when it's really cold out, sit at a constant speed and it'll start juddering until you let off or in my case when the engine warms up a little bit more
not sure what it is
Loudest I've heard was mine with the sportex that I bought it with. Crappy un silenced system which I then managed to blow the baffles out of the backbox.
The drone at 30/40 and 60/70 was horrific
On a different note, I got my ktec recessed cat back come through a little while ago, I've checked the box and there's no template or instructions for the cut out in the bumper, has anyone got the measurements?
Cars fixed!
No more knocky dephaser noise
you boys were right, turns out it WAS the timing!
Belt skipped probably due to a knackered tensioner etc
Not sure why he didn't notice this before but f**kit I've got my car back that's all I care about...
Fair enough!
Thing is, when the car is in neutral I can slowly bring the revs up to 5k and it'll be fine
when I'm driving it, it'll make the noise as soon as I touch the throttle, what's that all about?
Thing someone earlier on said the drop in oil pressure is due to the timing
I'm not...
I was cruising at 40mph when the noise suddenly started so I can't see the timing being out, doubt it would've jumped either as it had a belt put on it just before I bought it, he has the correct tool to do it and has checked the timing loads of times
new dephaser - didn't cure it
disconnect...
He tried undoing the bottom pulley but it was seized on so that hasn't moved at all, and he's got the cam locking tool so he can't see it being the timing out
The car went in, he changed the belt and dephaser, let it warm up, gave it a rev and it made the same noise as it did before
Done some research, unplugged the solenoid and it then run/drove better than it ever did before
Before the solenoid was unplugged, the oil pressure dropped to 2.5bar...
He just rang me, he unplugged the dephaser/vvt solenoid and the noise disappeared
but what would cause that to be noisy and the oil pressure to drop off? Knackered oil pump?
Dephasers been done
still makes the noise
he said the oil pressure drops right off when it makes the noise
Fucked off is an understatement. What could it be ?!
The fact it's down on power I've put down to the dephaser not working properly,
its not a misfire, it just starts surging and bogging down a little when it goes past 3k
If I put my hand where the dephaser is, and someone else gave it a rev so that the rattle in the video link above came, I...
