It's gutting isn't it? I started with an offer of £1500, but had a 'lengthy' chat with the engineer and was armed with more adverts than he knew what to do with. Ultimately, I'm still out of pocket and finding a low mileage example in the condition mine was in, is proving borderline impossible...
Hi mate, I suffered the same on my monaco 172 last month, was quoted nearer £2k to fix.
Hope you got a decent pay out, I ended up with £1,820 cash plus the car (which was 9% or something) so I effectively paid £180 for salavage and sold that this week for £400. (Absolute bargain IMO) but you...
Parts (in March 2014)
All belts and plugs etc were £283 delivered.
Paid £180 to have them fitted, which I guess is about a days work (I also had a fog light fitted) so £600 isn't out of the ordinary.
I've still got my eye out. Seen a low mile black 172 up for £895. Tempted to 'save' it. Sounds well serviced, just looks tatty, which with mine I can easily rectify. Just wonder if it's worth it or not.
That's the one, think he's lowered it too, looks clean enough, although he's a 'youngun' so I suspect I'll see other mods appear ;)
No pics to hand, someone went into the back of me on Bridge Road, bumper, tailgate and lights smashed. Worst part is that it made a dent in the offside rear...
Just to add, I had mine done by R&S Autoservices (near Asda in Lowestoft) Steve is a top bloke and ex Renault and and ex Clio 172 owner too, so knows the cars well. I think I paid about £600 for all belts, plus a few minor other bits (fit a supplie fog light was one thing).
Anyone seen the flamer 172 around the Lowestoft area? Not sure if they're a member on here?
Seen it parked on Beccles Road a couple of times and had him behind me (oo err) on the A146 once, he fancied a play but I had my son in the car otherwise I may have obliged (he tells my wife if I do 35...
Anyone done it? Preferred it?
I know the 172s were notorious for not actually making that on rollers, so are 182s in a similar boat?
I can't find a nice clean 172 Monaco since mine was W/O, so am being forced really to look at 182s. Not as much as a fan looks wise (172s go under the radar a...
We tend to wave at other campervans, 99% of the time, there's acknowledgement either way.
Ggenerally, when I was in the Clio, it'd be a knowing nod of approval to fellow Renaultsport owners, nothing too excitable lol!
Currently driving around in a BMW, sorry, Mini Cooper SD and had a few...
Glad I'm not alone.
I've potentially 'sourced' a low mileage 172 in Monaco and possibly not too far away. He was asking £2400, so may be up for a similar amount again (advert was taken down).
Fingers crossed something comes of it.
I'm 35 years old, I like the twin tail pipes, but I prefer the 172 because it looks a bit more discreet.
I had a Purple 4.5 V8 when i was in my mid twenties, I've done the loud and proud phase lol!
With all respect, 182s are ten a penny lol (don't want to sound a c**t myself either! ;-) )
I've spent two days looking for a similar car and cannot get anywhere near what it's like. The car was immaculate and that's not an exaggeration. The only bad points I can think of (bear in mind I had a...
You should have seen my face when I asked "insurance" and got the reply "yes, I have but not sure who with"
I asked for his licence to get some ID and the licence said 'Indian Union Driving Licence of Goa State' lol! I thought, here we go, but turns out he was legitimate, but I was fearing the...
DY03 ZKL
Got rear ended by some numpty whilst I was sat at a crossing, proper whack, no idea how he hit me that hard considering i'd been stationery for so long, the girl who crossed was lucky...15 secs earlier I may have gone into her as he hit me that hard I ended up half way over the...
Slow to reply, but probably me! I usually go via relief road into town most mornings. If I'm not in the clio, give me a wave in the white VW T4 campervan with the black roof!
Oddly, when I'm in the clio, I always forget and wave at other campers and vice versa!
I'm considering selling my 172 so I can do further upgrades to my camper.
Monaco blue 172 (ph2) on 69k
MASSIVE file of receipts, the previous owner spent a fortune sorting this car.
I bought in Jan 14 and in March 14 I had the cambelt, dephaser and aux belts done for peace of mind, then the...
