Sorry to bump an old thread.
Love these cars, so much so have placed a deposit on one to replace my V6.
56 plate silver with all the good options (and multispoke alloys).
All being well I'll have the Vee gone this Saturday and pick up the SLK55 the following Saturday.
Can't wait!!!!
Coming up for sale soon if anyone is interested.
Had thought I was going to keep it, but it's time to try and get my cash out of it.
full advert to follow.
Doubly agreed.
I won't be making any more changes, other than a new (OEM) steering wheel.
I said when I got it that I wouldn't change it from standard, but these subtle changes really do improve it (with the exception of the ridiculously noisy exhaust).
Haven't posted up pics in a while, so here are a few.
Recently had the 18" wheels added (suspension and alignment sorted), Quicksilver exhaust and some new seats.
Steering wheel next as the leather is deteriorating and the airbag is scratched, looking for a new OEM (be it from 172, 182 or Vee).
I've a set of Pole Positions to go into my phase I V6.
i've also got a custom set of side mounts that bolt on to the existing Clio runners.
My question is; is it possible to remove the standard seats from the runners without releasing the runners from underneath the car?
From initial...
I had problems with coils on my first Vee.
None so far on my second (touch wood) although it is a garage ***** mostly.
I believe the first owner changed them all.
Standard metallic red should not be on any car IMO, especially not a hatch back.
It ages worse than black.
Flame red/Capsicum is an entirely different tale.
so you take the morale high ground, then join in and become a plank.
you are confused!
We are now getting comparisons from real people who have driven both, sounds like a good battle, but I know where my money is on with regards which will be better to drive for those likeminded enthusiasts...
Overboost or not, still expect the Clio to be the fastest in a straight line, handle better and be the better drivers car.
Well worth the premium and the tech leaves the Fiesta trailing well behind.
I wouldn't have either.
however gun held to head it would be the Clio (this car will be a belter and I commend Renault for trying to move things on with it, despite the fact that it might alienate previous Clio buyers).
out of the box the Clio looks like a far better package and will I expect...
Nice day today so thought I'd take a few photo's of my V6.
Selling it, so they might be the last:

I am toying with the idea of selling mine if anyone is interested PM me.
Iceberg silver 02 standard car (only exception is tints which can easily be removed)
2 owners from new
27,500 miles
Great condition
If you are getting wheels, has to be Speedline Turini's - best way to go for a flamer IMO.
My old one here:

In my opinion the 197 looks far better than any other non vee Clio, which to me (hence why I stated it was my opinion) makes it better than the Trophy.
It's also a step in the right direction quality wise from the 182 platform.
All round package better than the Trophy......in my opinion.
197 (with cup or R27) is in my opnion the best out of all Renaultsport Clio's (excluding the vee obviously).
It has the perfect balance between looks, power, driveability, quality.
Had a racing blue cup for a while and it's a car I miss.
Because Renault had the balls to strip out the back seats and fit a 3 litre v6 where those seats once sat.
Had it out for the first time in 5 months this weekend and really do love everything about the vee.
Don't worry about the mk1's handling, as long as you drive within the limits of your talents you will be fine - just like any car.
Rear wheel drive mid-engined will always be tricky especially in the wet.
In the last couple of years I've heard of more phase 2 drivers spinning out and doing...
Not so far Colin.
This Megane feels very well put together and a step above the previous shape.
I might regret not having 4WD come winter, but will live with it I guess. Just need to give the Meg a bit of a run in, then I can get down to testing that LSD.
